I good deli where the staff are lovely and know their stuff. I was tempted in by the fresh smell of bread, I think if I lived close to this place I might be in danger. They have a good selection of cheese and also wine, on this occasion I bought some Yarg and stocked up on one or two store cupboard essentials. I suspect I will be back before the Christmas rush for a few foodie stocking fillers. I was pleased they were open on Sunday.

I love that Epicerie Ludo is a cross between a fancy deli and a local shop where you’d pop out to get eggs and bread on an evening. It really adds to the overall European charm of Beech Road and is one of the things that sums up why I love living in Chorlton. There’s a lot of expensive and arguably unnecessary stuff there but also lots of high quality stuff that’s really affordable, e. g six local eggs for £1.50. They also sell amazing brownies. The staff are utterly charming and more than happy to help you choose some wine, should wine be what you’re after.

A great little deli, which has become my go-to place if I’m after bread, cheese & charcuterie. A very knowledgeable list of wines/cheese/spirits etc My only(tiny) gripe is that for some of the items it is very expensive for comparable items(esp spirits) but it does offer some that you won’t find anywhere else.

It’s lucky I don’t live closer to Ludo’s as it’s the kind of place that would bankrupt me pretty quickly! A really lovely little deli selling freshly baked bread and pastries, a variety of interesting cheeses, charcuterie and handmade pies, as well as coffee, teas, beer, wine, chocolate and an array of highly unnecessary but interesting and delicious tins, jars and bottles. Staff are always super friendly and more than happy to advise and assist. They also often have a table set up with a selection of products to taste and encourage you to do so, a winner in my book!

I love Ludo, in fact every time I’m in Chorlton my wife and myself make a habit of stopping by and picking up a few treats to stock up our kitchen cupboards. It’s such a pleasure just browsing the shelves but the staff are also super friendly and knowledgable about the produce that you do feel like it’s a real shopping experience(in a world of no time for customers/instant internet shopping) On this occasion we stocked up on some fine German blue cheese(recommended by the owner) and a lovely little homity pie(£2) with an incredible pastry case. We were out of coffee beans so I also picked up a bag from a local blender(Ancoats coffee — one of two local coffee beans sources they stock) and this just shows that it’s a great deli with local and international produce creating a fine balance for the customer! The fresh bread is amazing but they didn’t actually have any left. I’ve just been reliably informed by Unilocaler Sheila C that they’ll bake it to order when you pop in. Time for me to go and jump in the car now then!

My 1st ever Unilocal review is dedicated to my fave neighbourhood shop — Epicerie Ludo. A great local treasure trove of yummy treats. Have been trying my best to befriend the eponymous Ludo ever since I first went in. Good wine selection, great for gifts and self-gifting too, a fab mix of functional food and weekender treats. They’ll even bake a baguette for you there and then. Doesn’t get better than that does it?
