Visited Harry Ramsden’s restaurant at White City Retail Park, Chester Road, Manchester on 1st Oct with my grandson. Not enough staff, quite a grim interior, portion suE for child meagre. I ordered grilled haloumi with salad. Overpriced for a ridiculously thin slice of cheese. The one lady serving was very friendly but needed help. Will not re-visit.

I love going here every Friday for a good takeaway, very great place. Harry Ramsdens doubles as both a Restaurant and Takeaway with separate entrances, I’ve been to to both but I’ve been more impressed by the Takeaway personally. Both the Restaurant and the Takeaway receive the same Fish and Chips, you have a lot more selection at the restaurant section however and there’s obviously no place to sit down in the takeaway section. Harry Ramsdens is based in a very convenient location close to Old Trafford and Salford Quays, getting there couldn’t be easier as you can walk from Old Trafford, walk from the Quays or Exchange Quay Tram stop via Trafford Road. The fish and chips itself is very generous in terms of portions, I tend to get the Large Fish and Chips each week(I’ll attach a picture of the portion next time I go) and I’m never disappointed, it’s very high quality fish and is without a doubt worth the slightly higher price over other Fish and Chip places, they also offer discounts every now and then for returning customers. The staff are very nice as well, always a pleasure to interact with them, in the restaurant the service is also extremely good, I’ve only been in the restaurant when it’s been slightly empty though so it could well deteriorate when there are more people. If you’re looking for a good Fish and Chip takeaway/restaurant in the Manchester area I’d certainly recommend coming up to this one, it’s always worth it.

After finally relocating the Manchester resturant to a more amenable location close to Salford Keys and Old Trafford, Harry Ramsdens is finally accesible to Manchester’s chippy loving public. Unfortuntalely, this doesn’t change the fact that Harry Ramsden’s is just as average as ever. It’s a shame, because I’m sure Harry Ramsden himself back in 1928 would not have been impressed by what’s now on offer in his establishment. Yes, it’s filling(with its unlimited chip refills) but no, it isn’t the best fish and chips you can get for your money. It’s very hit and miss. There’s something to be said about keeping it small and simple.

Mmmmm just writing this review has made me decide where I’m going for dinner. Harry Ramsden’s really is the ultimate fish and chip restaurant. Yes I said fish and chip restaurant, deal with it. This new addition is right by Manchester United’s Old Trafford and is just perfectly located for me, it has a takeaway section as well as the restaurant and service is always very quick. I know most people love their local chippy and mine is alright but there is something about Harry Ramsden’s that’s just so much better… I can’t put my finger on it… I’m actually going to have to go now and get some now to try and work out what it is! Damn reviews, I’m going to get fat!
