Jane Norman

I’m LOLing myself stupid at the other reviews. Excellent stuff. Hey, when did LOL become such an acceptable term? It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s got an entry in the Oxford English Dictionary now alongside ‘chav’, ‘FTW’ and ‘pwn’.
Jane Norman isn’t ordinarily a shop you’d associate with the phrase ‘for the win’, I used to remember seeing the infamous and ostentatious largely Jane Norman logoed bags around and as a supposed non-​conformist in my youth, I’d turn my nose up at them. So it took me many years, and the promise of a sale and a browse with my mum (who is such a gem finder I’d follow her into anywhere) to finally give Jane Norman a try. And I genuinely wasn’t disappointed.
Okay, while a lot of it isn’t to my taste and some of the stock doesn’t seem to have changed in years à la the Bay Trading Company (we’ll come to that one soon enough), I really enjoyed the sale. I came away with a lovely electric blue soft leather handbag and a pair of pumps to match that a sales assistant had helpfully found for me, and I was eyeing up the winter coats as they were reduced to ridiculously affordable prices. The lesson here is that it pays to pop into places you’d ordinarily avoid. After all, aren’t we all taught as kids not to live by our preconceptions?

Remember when we were about 11 and the Jane Norman bag was THE THING to be seen with?! Aww the good old days.
Now it’s kind of a thing of embarrassment. The clothes are all a bit tacky and you’re kind of ashamed that you once liked them. It’s like the teenage crush you cringe about now!!!
Yet it’s still doing well, I always glance at it as I’m wandering by and it does seem to be busy but mainly younger kids.
A good place to buy your little sister something for Christmas.

Jane and Norman– two good, solid names.
Could be your auntie and uncle.
Not two names that are really gonna set the fashion world alight though are they? Plain Jane, normal Norman.
You can’t guarantee too many things in life but one thing you definitely can count is that you won’t hear the phrase «That Normal is so hot, I’ll bet his sex is on fire.» ever again in your life.
