Khan Baba Restaurant

Oh wow. Seriously you have to be a fool to give this place more then one.
First the food is so and so. Just because its an open kitchen doesn’t mean its fresh. Everything was dry as heck which means microwaved food and precooked meats. It’s not that much of a problem since the prices are reasonable for the quality. So that gives it a one star.
Second the service sucks so much, waiters ignore you, take too long to bring drinks over, we has to bus our own tables after the starters, the waiters forget to bring us silver for the main course food so we resorted to borrowing the table next to ours, we didn’t finish all our food so asked the hostess if we could get some of it packed up she brings over some tubs for us to do it on the table in front of customers. Couple next to us where waiting 15 mins for their bill, on top they didn’t finish eating due to service and waiting time for drinks etc. The staff don’t even seem interested in what they’re doing.
At the end we was waiting for our taxi outside for a while, people walking past made similiar comments. We also advised passers on to go somewhere else to avoid disappointments.

Beware of very dodgy attendant
We dined here tonight. Looking for a special night out but the attendant made sure to ruin it. Everything about his behaviour said that he was working on commission. Instances through out our dining experiences listed below.
— Specifically asked for tap water, he even repeated the order after us to confirm. Mineral water arrived.
— Offered us pappadum as we sat down but failed to mentioned that they were charged for.
— Also failed to mention that the dips accompanying the pappadum were charged for separately
— Requested for one rice dish. Assumed that we wanted two and decided to get us 2.
— Asked for one plain rice but received pilau rice instead.
— Still charged us for the pilau rice rather than amending the bill
— Insisted that we pay in cash.
— As we did not have enough cash in hand we asked to pay by card. This agitated him but he let us do so.
— Inspite of asking him to amend the correct rice dish on the bill we were still short changed.
You can always forgive a mistake or 2 and even tho 20p we were over charged. But is the principle of things. He tried every way he possibly could to overcharge us. We really wanted to like this place but we’re definitely not going back.
…& the food wasn’t that good either.

We had come back from an evening trip to Liverpool and were pretty hungry. Our first choice, naturally was a neighbouring place but there was a 45 minute wait. Should’ve waited.
The starters were so-​so. The mains were not great. We were made to sit very close to the open cooking area which we did not like. We don’t know what they added in their food but my girlfriend’s tummy started feeling very funny in the night and most of the next day.
I would definitely avoid it.

I can’t fault the food in this restaurant. The kitchen is quite transparent so you can actually watch the chefs making the food (all fresh!)
The food was sublime! It was one of the most delicious Indian food I have ever had in England. The curry was spot on and everything was flavourful.
Unfortunately, that is when all good things has to end for this restaurant. The customer service was non existent. Asked for the bill twice which didn’t arrive for about 20 mins! Ended up walking to the receptionist. No smiles, the receptionist at the restaurant was a little grim (like she would not like to be there at all).
I came to this restaurant expecting a lot more in terms of customer service.
Saddens me the service had to drag the whole experience down.
If the food was not exceptional, I would have given 1 star.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times and its been enjoyable. To be fair it’s normally the place we end up in when the other curry places long Liverpool road are full but my previous visit had been good so we thought we’d go again.
It was a Saturday night there was 3 of us, we hadn’t reserved and had to wait no problem with that at all. We were seated but the whole place seemed rather chaotic everyone was dashing about, plates were dropped and broken not the setting for a relaxing meal.
We ordered the usual popadums which were nice and came with a good punchy pickle. The food ordered by my friend (i forget what they ordered) looked good and according to them was tasty. What I ordered– Lamb nadir was a real disappointment 2 bite sized pieces of lamb in a bowl of sauce– when I asked why it was just a bowl of sauce i was advised that it was lamb off the bone and was good quality– ok but 2 pieces?! I still wasn’t happy so they cooked me another bit of lamb but it meant that my friends had finished their meals by the time mine was cooked and my sauce was cold :(Not the best dining experience.
Ladies toilet were horrid over flowing bins, towels all over the floor, no loo roll –basically they hadn’t been checked all day. Spoke to the manager about them as I felt so strongly– c’mon guys know Saturdays are busy but standards should still be in place.
It seems the busier they have got the standards have slipped. Maybe if you order other dishes than the Lamb nadir then your experience will be different.

My boyfriend and I visited Khan Baba last November (2012) and it was wonderful! We found the staff warm and
attentive, the food exquisite and the management had a great deal of
time for us. Normally Indian food (from a jar or from the supermarket)
makes me ill due to the high onion and added preservative content) but
I had one of the spiciest curry’s they could offer (made specifically
to my taste) and I suffered no problems whatsoever! I can only believe
that this was due to the meat they use being of the highest quality and
rather than bulking up the curry with onions, they used the finest
natural ingredients and herbs and spices which gave the meal an intense,
authentic flavour! So far I haven’t found anywhere else that catered
such delicious food at such reasonable prices, with such meticulous
attention to detail. Keep doing what you are doing Khan Baba we will
be back!
