Does anyone know if this bookstore in Knock, Ireland has a website where I can order things on line?

Don’t knock Knock id say!!!(that’s a play on words … But not important to the narrative … See Hero of Dundee)… Anyway I digress… Oddly I’ve been to Knock many times … And concur with much of what’s already been written … However what’s great about Knock is that its near Ballina which is well worth a look … Anywhere with a Bank that has a waterfall in it and a Pet shop that sells draft Guinness gets my vote!!! Don’t you just love the Irish!!! What’s more its got Enniscrone golf club … Proof if any was needed that God loves golfers!

A store devoted entirely to the shrine of knock!!! Where have you been all my life. Knock is a spot in Ireland where an apparition(appearance of god, kind of) occurred. 15 people witnessed it, this event was given the Vatican seal of approval in 1992 and since and still is a busy site for pilgrimage. Now if your interested in anything knock related head to this little store on deansgate.

I’ve been to Knock a few times with my family when I’ve visited Ireland, and the place itself is fairly devoid of anything except the actual holy site. Not that that’s a bad thing because all anyone visits Knock for is the holy site, including my Great-Uncle who lives in Australia. Now that’s dedication. The store itself is one of those incredible niche places that could probably only get away with existing in the Northern Quarter. Selling all things devoted to the shrine itself, it has a very small target market, but it certainly covers that market well. Should you have any fondness for the shrine, you could probably find something worth owning here. If you’ve never heard of the place then it stands to reason that you may as well not bother.

Have you ever flown to Knock airport in Ireland? I have. It’s confusing because it’s literally in the middle of nowhere. Its just a concrete box with a tiny bit of old concrete by it the middle of a massive expanse of grass and nothingness. If you fly to Knock, I promise that you’ll feel exactly the same. That is, if you know nothing, like me. Because actually Knock, I discovered, is home to a very important Catholic shrine. That is why the airport got built. Thousands now fly on pilgrimage to Knock every year. In fact, it’s so famous that there is a Knock shrine gift and bookshop in Manchester! Opened in order to serve the significant Irish community in our city, the bookshop sells relevant reading material, cards and trinkets, as well as organising pilgrimages and trips to the shrine over in Knock. The lovely lady in the shop was delightful and explained so much of this to me. Bizarre, but very interesting!
