Phoenix Gallery

If you’re looking for somewhere to pick up a few original pieces to decorate a living room then Phoenix Gallery is a good place to check out. Since the stuff is all local you’ll get that warm fuzzy feeling of helping the community as well. There’s a lot to look at, so you’re sure to find something that catches your eye, and most are striking enough to make an interesting talking point if you had it up when people visited. A lot of the stuff is the modern kind of art where it’s not of something as much as it is just simply ‘something’, but if that takes your fancy you know where to go.

Phoenix is a tiny local gallery in Castlefield showcasing local art, lots of it by contemporary British Artist Philippe Aird. Aird is a Manchester born artist.
There are over a hundred photos on show at any one time, so there’s plenty to look at. Some of the art is very nice. In my personal opinion they make great decorative pieces, but don’t have much meaning.
Price-​wise there’s a decent range, but they are all on large quality canvas so that ensures the prices are at least moderate. Check out the website for a few samples of the art, though I must say they’ve not chosen a great selection for the site compared to some of the stuff in there.
Some of the art is also on show at Binary Bar, literally just round the corner.
