You can’t really go wrong with pizza express. The food is always reliably good, with your standard; dough balls, olives and pizzas. The service was good and the drinks choice is a bit different to your normal coke or lemonade offering raspberry and elderflower drinks. Beer is where they make their money, being a little over priced. Overall really good!

How many Pizza Express’s does one city need? About a billion according to Manchester. After a long debate over whether pizza or burgers were the best option for a ‘light lunch’(we’ve just finished exams, what do you want from us? Carbs are currently our best pal!) my housemate and I landed on Pizza Express due their generally pleasing 3 course offer found on Voucher Cloud. The interior is lovely as Anyonita G says; lots of pastel colours, a range of seating, and the traditional open kitchen so you can have a nose in on what’s going on. I have such a love/hate relationship with these kinds of kitchens because I completely get what they’re trying to do, Mughli does it better than anyone seeing as you can only get a glimpse of the naan man and what that man does with naan is pretty spectacular, but Pizza Express sometimes forgets you can see your food from the moment it’s put onto the pass… and when it’s still there after 30 minutes. Luckily, the chain I am referring to there is the one in the Birmingham Bullring as today we were served quite promptly. The server seemed a bit confused about us asking for the offer and whether there was a menu to choose from. We were told that the offer included any pizza or pasta and what the dessert choice was but then that no starter was included. In a 3 course meal. Slight language barrier or just a busy day for her who knows, but eventually we got down to the bottom line of what we were actually allowed to eat. She also took a long time to give us our bill towards the end of the meal and wasn’t the server who asked us whether our meal was okay during, making us feel a touch neglected. My partner in carbs chose the American Hot on a romana base, as big as her face, but it looked delicious. I chose the leggerra with goats cheese/red onion chutney/red onion/spinach and have to admit I was slightly dissapointed that they sprung salad dressing on the salad. I know salad needs salad dressing but I was a bit annoyed that I didn’t get a choice, especially as I detest anything mayonnaise based and alot of restaurant sauces are, or that it didn’t come in a decanter, as I’m sure I’ve seen before in Pizza Express. My pizza was very tasty, if a bit sweet, but I ate it all none the less. The fudge cake was tasty though I couldn’t help but wish it was warm so as to make it more of a dessert rather than a slice of cake, but it still vanished quickly after appearing on the table. Waste not want not.
