Called in with the Mrs for a swift beer, decided to have a bite to eat, I ordered the Steak, I was rather shocked by the quality of the meat & the standard of the service, it was brilliant, the steak was cooked perfect to my liking, & tasted as good as any I’ve eaten at gaucho grill. I will be popping in for another very soon.

Just a typical bar in the studenty area of the city. I used to frequent here when i was a student but if i am honest now im all grown up I doubt I will be going back. Typical over priced city centre drinks. Slightly confused as to why every table is now set up as a restaurant and they remove the empty glasses when you sit down… It is a bar! Location is pretty decent for the train station, but not a bar of choice for me.

Quite fancy bar with a wide selection of beer, cider and infused vodka shots. Little bit too fancy for my taste, also a little bit too expensive.

Used the top room for our works Xmas do, a really big versatile space. The staff were lovely, although not always available in the planning stages of the event and often had to be chased to confirm things. They let us create our own buffet menu rather than go with their party option, set up a bar tab and create our own vouchers instead of using their own and bring in our own DJ who could bring in their own equipment or use the venues at no extra cost — really very accommodating. A great night was had by all the staff — particularly enjoyed the two for one cocktails happy hour which went on until 20.00!

Trendy, pleasantly loud– extremely friendly staff! I skipped the place on Friday night because it was SO packed, Saturday night I came back and was glad I did – I saw several beautifully presented burgers and other dishes go by my table but opted for the Fish and Chips. The fish was perfect, enough chips to have solved the original Irish potato famine, and the minted peas were very interesting. Decent beer selection, though nothing local. Extremely attractive wait staff– almost like a floor show was included;-) everyone waited on everyone so you were never left without help. Great place!

Great food but awful service. The food arrived before the drinks. We asked for drinks and it took 40 mins for them to acknowledge us. We had to wait for half an hour for the bill and to pay. Luckily it was 50% off

There is nothing special about the revolutions, it is very much like all the others. I’ve dropped into this one a couple of times for the cheap(er) cocktails before moving on to the clubs but I think I’m getting a little old for the amount of students at this place! If you do like revolutions you better going to the one at deangate locks but honestly Manchester is full of trendy, unique bars/clubs that are much better.

This is a place I used to frequent almost every week while I was in University, and I definitely have a whole lot of fond memories associated with this place so my review might be a bit biased! Revolutions is a chain around UK and this particular oxford road one is pretty much packed everyday of the week barring exam time. Having said that there are also fair amounts of young corporates who can be spotted here. The alcohol is reasonably cheap(as it should be in a student bar) and they have some great happy hour deals like free pizza 241 cocktails etc. It is situated in a very convenient location too, right on oxford road so a good place to go for pre drinks before a party. The couches are comfortable and there is a dance floor too in case you want to dance! Do try out their pizza it is surprisingly good! My Verdict: It’s a good place to go for a couple of drinks during happy hours and relive your university days! :)

As others have said, there is nothing ‘wrong’ with the place, its just packed, noisey but not in a good way. There are much better places nearby.

Vodka Revs can be approached in a number of ways. One — go in and pay through the nose for drinks. Two — go in, buy a privilege card, and get a fantastic discount on everything. The venue is very classy — comfortable, interestingly designed seating areas, and is very easy to relax in with friends. The excellent food menu means that you can visit any time during the day, from taking a slow lunch, to a mid-afternoon snack — Vodka Revolution is an ideal place to visit any time during the day. Especially with a privilege card. The Vodka Revolution privilege card is absolutely fantastic. You can save the money you spend on the card in one purchase, and best of all — it applies to all food bought from their extensive menu as well. The Privilege card, amongst other special offers, gets the holder 2−4−1 on all cocktails, so it is definitely worth the £4. Even better, when you buy a card, you receive a free pair of I Love Vodka pants. This is the life, my friends.

The fact that there’s nothing intrinsically wrong with this particular Revolution(there are others in Manchester) is, sadly, what’s intrinsically wrong with it. It’s a decent location in terms of finding it and, sure, it’s a tidy enough bar with reasonable prices. They stock a dizzying amount of vodka… not to mention other drink that you’d expect. There’s also a DJ on at the weekends, who glumly stands in a corner largely getting ignored by people hammered on Woo Woo’s or whatever they’re called. All of these things are indicative of a bar that very much feels like the Manchester of the late ‘90s. Pitchers, little identity, DJ trying to figure out how to make the largely disinterested punters tick… Like I said, there’s nothing wrong with this place per se — you can get a seat, drink booze and idle away a few hours no problem. It’s just that… there’s a million places like it up and down Britain and, if you’re looking for something that will last in the memory, there’s a lot of bars and pubs in the same area that are better. One thing in favour of Revolution is that should you find yourself caught short and hungry, they have deals of pub-grub that should go down reasonably well. Sadly, they no longer make the great fish-finger butties that once made the place stand out from the rest. They’ve also bought upstairs(which used to be a porn cinema) which is available for functions and the like and it’s perfectly equipped for a decent sized get-together.

This is the original and, in my opinion, the best Revolution in Manchester. Call me a sentimental old bag but walking through the doors takes me back to Monday nights in the late 90s. My friend and I would head to Rev, buy a pitcher, buy 6 extra shots, put the 6 extra shots in the pitcher, drink it and then head to the Ritz down the road for some serious rock action. It may not be the fanciest Revolution in the world. It may not be the biggest Revolution in the world. But it’s my Revolution and I still love it.

You say you want a revolution? Well you know, we all want to change the world. Well there is nothing revolutionary about this bar and certainly nothing that will change your world, let alone the world. I find it quite dark inside, especially during the daytime and it doesn’t have much of an atmosphere. At night, as the other reviewers have pointed out, it is just loud. I don’t particularly like vodka, but if I did then I still wouldn’t be tempted by the various test tubes of neon voddies. The bar staff don’t look as if they enjoy their jobs. For a student bar it’s not particularly cheap either.

This has to get the award for the laziest design planning in history. it’s just a bar with enough space in front of it for people to queue. Then they threw some chairs and tables in and called it a day. Add in the Revolution trademark of crap music/extreme volume, and you have the Oxford Road branch. I avoid Revs at the best of times, but this is just dire. I can’t think of one redeeming feature, or anything for which I couldn’t just go elsewhere for better.

When Revolution first opened there was a bit of a buzz about flavoured vodka. Absolut had just run a series of imaginative ad campaigns and the idea of drinking shots of vodka infused with rhubarb, blackberries or chilli seemed quite novel. Now we have gourmet vodka brands like Grey Goose, Revolution seem cheesy and old fashioned. You’re unlikely to see locals drinking in here but the influx of new students every twelve months means it’s always bustling with freshers determined to celebrate their freedom with as many drinks as possible. To say it gets very messy at weekends is an understatement.

A dependable branch of the popular revolution chain but not a lot more. Its student area location means not a lot of effort has gone into the design of the bar, but that is probably what’s allowing them to sell their wares so cheaply– its almost as if they are saying students don’t care about the finer things and just want to get drunk for as little money as possible– weird.

This is just another addition to the chains of hellish, cheesy shite bars that include the likes of Baa Bar, Weatherspoons and all the rest. The only difference with the Oxford Road version is that more students come here. These students are usually first years that have lost there way(both psychically and mentally), students that will soon come to there senses and realise this place is full of loud music and little more. There is light at the end of the tunnel guys just get the hell out of these places and you will see it !

ugh this place is loud. It’s a student meat market.(I used to work for the university so the closest places to work to get a drink were overrun by students). I’ve gotten into fights here for doing nothing but not having the right accent, which is funny because it’s been with people who do not not sound as if they’re from Manchester themselves. I’ve also been groped a few more times than I care to remember.

I think every Manchester student comes through here during fresher’s week. During my time in Manchester, this Revolution went through about three different names within a year or so, but ended up back as Revolution! It’s a pretty small place, and they usually have a live DJ, which is kinda nice. In many ways it’s just another in the Revolution chain of vodka bars though. Nothing special.

If you are into Vodka, This is the best place for that; its not the usual cheap commercial vodka with a Russian name served in other bars or sold in stores. I recommend you try super-premium vodka brand Wyborowa Exquisite with fresh orange juice garnished with a slice of orange or orange wheel(Screwdriver cocktail). The vodka is produced from a single variety of premium rye, Dankowskie Zlote Zyto(Dankowskie Golden Rye) which is grown on an estate near Poznan in western Poland. Exquisite taste!
