Love the Shahbaaz! Great food. Lovely staff. The 3 courses for £9.99 they offer on Weds & Sunday’s are well worth the money & they’re very accommodating on alterations to the menu. Highly recommended!

We love love love Shabaaz, or The Curry Cottage as it used to be called. Brilliantly placed to go for a curry then a few beers at the pub across the road(The Sparking Clog). Shabaaz has been going for years and when you see restaurants opening and closing within a year or two I think that says something about the standard of food and service, both of which are high. The restaurant is licensed too and the sinks prices aren’t ridiculous. The price of the food is on a par with similar restaurants in the area. A meal for two including 2 starters and 2 mains, with a couple of drinks each, will set you back around £40−50.

Shahbaaz Curry Cottage has been a favourite of mine for a good few years now — being a minute away from my parents house, it also doubles up as our local Indian takeaway. The restaurant is, as the name suggests, in a small cottage that has quite recently been extended to cater for the demand for a good curry house in the area. There must be no more than 15 tables in the entire place, which makes it nice and cosy — which I like. I have been here countless times, and each time I cannot fault the service. The waiters are friendly, and the same guys have worked there for years, so if you’re local and go there frequently they remember your name — which is always nice. The food is authentic Indian food, with a varied choice of curries on the menu. One of their starters — Prawn on Purée — is my favourite and I often order this as larger portion for my main meal, which they are always more than happy to do for me. The prices are very reasonable here, and if you like them on Facebook they’ll often post print-off vouchers on their page for customer discounts and freebies. They also run deals on certain nights, where you can get 3 courses and a beer for £15. Last week when I visited, the service was abnormally slow. And something I haven’t experienced before. Granted it was a busy Friday night but maybe they were a waiter down or something. The service is usually faultless — this must have been an off night but I wouldn’t like to mark them down for it. I’ll continue to go here, either with family or with friends — and if you’re in the area it’s definitely the best place for Indian food for a good few miles.

Absolute top class Indian in the area. Friendly knowledgable staff(most front if house staff actually chefs from previous jobs and all now work as a big team) great curries and none of the crappy stuff like asda do etc really really good. Cannot fault it. Unless you go in for a take away in which case you should ring ahead as no where to wait for the take away haha
