Pretty run down but a nice pub, we drank in the garden as it was open and sunny not that the pub was able to produce the weather for us(although there is a trick for the future dear publicans out there). They do real ale here, and I guess it is likely to be one of the safer pubs in Manchester being right next door to a police station. I have been here a couple of times and nothing has changed which is really what most people look for when looking for a local, unfortunately I wish it was just a bit more comfortable and a little less shabby.

Top pub this. I come here on match days quite regularly but popped in here on Saturday after going to the cinema to watch Interstellar on IMAX and needed a quick pint to try and relax before meeting my mates. Most pubs were absolutely rammed, then I remembered because of the location of the Abercromby it might have a little less footfall. Although still rammed, it was ok to prop up the bar. This place does have real ale but not somewhere that I would buy it from, rarely do i see anyone drink it there and the selection from memory is bland general ales, so I stick to larger here. If you’re looking for somewhere to watch games it’s half decent, it doesn’t have foreign tv though for 3pm kick offs. If you want a pub to sink a few pints then you aint going far wrong with this place.

I love this little boozer, carefully tucked away in the back streets of Manchester. Whenever I fancy watching the football and I want a seat, I come here an hour or so before a game. Which, incidentally, is what myself and a few pals did last night. Also, whenever I visit here, there’s always some exciting event taking place. We got told by the very nice barman that none other than Wayne Rooney and Ed Sheeran had had a karaōke-jam session in the main room, after Ed’s concert a few weeks ago. I was devastated to have missed out, recalling how I met and drank with City player Vincent Kompany in here two Christmases ago. Definitely going to have to drink in here more often and it’s really cheap in terms of drink prices. They have a lovely little beer garden outside too(best for the summer months as it was sub-zero temperatures last night!) and it’s hard to believe that the town hall and crazy crowds of the Christmas markets are only minutes away. Going to start freqenting this place again, as I’d forgotten how good it is. Hard to find if you don’t/do know Manchester though so either cut down the dark alley next to Brew Dog or head for the Town Hall and look for Bootle Street. Enjoy!

Nice comfortable backstreet pub with selection of real ales not very well kept.

Yet another fantastic example of a proper boozer in Manchester. When I first moved here I actually bemoaned the city’s lack of pubs. Everything was themed, chained or had its douche level turned up to eleven. I now understand that they were there all along, tucked away off the beaten track– probably to keep the likes of newbies like myself who hadn’t earned their pub stripes out! The Sir Ralph Abercromby has it all– a silly name, real ale, customers with mutton chops who look like they don’t approve of me, pub food and toilets that smell like toilets. My feelings about the neighbouring police station are still undecided. Either it means that you can enjoy a quiet pint, safe in the knowledge that there won’t be any trouble or, that you are actually enjoy said pint amongst lunatics who’ve just been released.

This is a great pub situated just off Deansgate that was recommended to me by a friend(who hadn’t been in for a couple of years) I have been in twice now over the last couple of months the pub is a really nice size/shape and the décor is ok but and each time there is a strange atmosphere, the last time some young skinhead who worked behind the bar had a big shouting match with another member of staff in front of everyone, totally unnaceptable then last night I read in the Manchester Evening ‘Andrex’ News that they were struggling and may close, if the service is anything to go by I’m not surprised. Its sad as these little pubs tucked away off Deasngate can be an Oasis from chains that litter this area but I won’t be going back here again. Also there is only so much Bob Dylan you can listen to through piped loud crap speakers before you feel on the edge of fuckybambooboo.
