This joint is on my way home, thus the reason for so many check-ins, but that doesn’t mean I’m necessarily happy about it. It’s convenient, but that’s pretty much it. You can find deals here periodically, but not as frequently as you can at other groceries. I’ll ditto to Bex’s review concerning the security guard. If you’re that worried about shoplifters, can you find a more discreet way of watching for them than actually following a shopper around? Really doesn’t put me at ease when I feel the guy’s eyes on me as I go up and down the aisles. They stock basic fruits, basic vegetables, basic dairy… everything is just very basic. It’ll get you covered if you just need something in a jiffy, but you’d do well to go elsewhere for your main shopping.

This place is a stone’s throw from my house so I often find myself wandering in to pick up some milk or something. I am always weirded out by the staff and the general atmosphere. This may have something to do with the location, there are quite a few users around this area and they often seem to be browsing the shelves looking for heroin, but the staff are a little off too. There is a security guard who makes me feel less than safe and will happily stare at you for your entire visit. He has followed me and my housemate around the shop before even though we clearly weren’t stealing anything and wouldn’t have the balls to if we wanted to. Like most other small Tesco stores they stock mostly big brands and not much Tesco’s own stuff which makes shopping here expensive. I’d head up the road to Venus or over to ASDAs if you want to do your weekly shop.

This unassuming looking garage shop is so much more than a brief stop off for emergency milk and bread runs. It offers the unsuspecting petrol-purchaser a full five or so aisles of supermarket fodder accompanied by a spectacular array of patisserie goods and hot beverage machine. Despite my mother’s militant boycott of Tesco, I have found myself frequenting this store, in a very cloak and dagger style, rather more often than I should like due to its ability to double up as a full-blown supermarket when the need arises. It is almost consistently overstaffed and so a friendly rapport is quickly established with the cashiers. My favourite escapade is to raid the reduced section, in the refrigerator adjacent to the sandwiches, as close to midnight as possible in order to capture the most mind-boggling of epically low reductions. Mental!

Its the nearest Tesco from my house on the Vicky P area and I’m always happy to have civilization around this deserted area! It’s a good Tesco alongside the petrol pump, so if you’ve got a car and want to pick up some groceries, yay! Anyway, so for a Tesco express, it houses most of the things we need from the usual to the not so usual things! Like complete baking equipment. This one time I had this crazy urge to bake and has nothing at home except sugar, it was 11pm and there was no going away of this silly urge! Lucky for me, this tesco is open till 12am! In the land where all shuts early, this was great! So I got all I needed, included some yum icing and I was set! Good little obidient Tesco making everyone in and around happy.

When I lived in Victoria Park this was a useful stop-off on my way home, be it to pick up some Canada Dry ginger ale or a loaf of the decent Tesco bread with grainy bits in. However, almost every time I went in(not an exaggeration) there was some sort of dodgy activity occurring. My friends joked that I should join the police or become a private detective, but it really isn’t *that* difficult to see scallies filling their bags with mince meat. My friend also got mugged in broad daylight outside this store. For a big shop you’d be much better heading to Lidl or Worldwide on Oxford Road or Asda in Hulme, but it’s fine for the basics. It also sells petrol, which smells nice.

My regular route out of Manchester to see relatives in Wilmslow has taken me to this Tesco supermarket cum garage many a time. It is ace at what it does and super useful. There are loads of pumps for quite a small garage, meaning that it’s not too often that you end up in one of those annoying petrol station queues. There’s also a really good sized supermarket inside with loads of sandwiches, magazines and a bakery which smells amazing early in the morning. I’ve always found there to be a good number of staff working and sometimes I get a nice little chat in with one of them as well.

A good store, especially for the size — amzing the variety of products it stocks given the shelf space. Has all the offers found in your usual Tesco but just a lot closer, very handy for the student population in Fallowfield. Staffed with friendly and efficient people and opens until 11pm most days. Also there is a Post Office in the back of the shop, which is a sorting office for the majority of Fallowfield.

great little tesco not a stone’s throw away from Victoria Park. Catch this store at the end of the day and lots of things are greatly reduced — which is fab for all you students in Vicky Park! Tesco do ggreat chocolate and cakes and have a fantastic basics range. You usually get served really quickly because it is also part of a petrol station and so the customers are quite quick!
