The Escape Room

My girlfriend took me here for my birthday, as we’d previously done other breaking out games and enjoyed them. We took on a 4* room (the name of which escapes me) themed on escaping a murderers lair before he returned to, well, murder us!
The room was suitably creepy, with imitation knives, axes and body parts scattered around the room. The only problem was that the most challenging part of the room was that it was very dimly lit. We escaped with nearly 12 minutes to spare, but I feel like if the lights had been on, we’d have escaped much sooner as there weren’t that many puzzles to complete, and they were relatively easy once we were able to see them. I would like to come back and try a different room though as it was fun, just a bit easy.
Nice bar and waiting area which is a big plus, although you can’t take drinks into the room with you.

I’ve been to Breakout a good few times now so thought I’d give this place a go! We did Slaughterhouse which had a great set up (in the dark!) and the staff had a great time telling us the horrifying back story! Great great fun, the bar as you wait is a nice touch too :) Plus, we escaped! Will be back to try an even harder room soon!

A good puzzle :) The escape rooms has 4 rooms to escape from, and they were just the right level of complexity, we did need the occasional hint but it really was just a hint. Our group did room 13 and took us just under an hour, apparently that is quite good with around a 10% success rate.
All of our group had fun and were mentally challenged throughout the tasks set before us, glad we did not attempt this after we had been drinking. We had booked all 4 rooms and then we split up into our four groups, again this is a great activity for a large group or small as you could do all four rooms at different times if you wanted.
The staff were great at setting the scene and also were polite and easy to get along with throughout, there is also a bar on site so once finished you can congratulate each other or commiserate over a drink. We loved this and I suspect i will be back in the future.

Oh my god — I had THE best time here! Everyone MUST go atleast once!
The idea is that you book up (in advance) and choose one of 5 rooms… you have 1 hour to escape the themed room to win! Sounds pretty simple right? Think again!
I booked to go here as a surprise for my mum and dad who came down recently to stay — I told them over dinner on the Saturday what the plans were so they had chance to prepare and «think outside of the box».
We arrived 20 minutes early so to have our ‘induction’. The Escape room is situated on the canal and they are still in the process of completing work inside and out — therefore it was a little untidy on the inside with a few bits lying around.
We were shortly introduced to our room and given the «low-​down» in the elevator shaft which was the beginning of our escape! The gentleman who gave us the intro was fab really getting into the story and setting us off!
The only downside was that our group experienced some technical difficulties with a few of the events not fully working. Not knowing we weren’t the ones missing the clues our guide came in to give us 15 more minutes and a voucher with 30% off at the end for our next game; along with some recommendations for our next rooms!
Apparently all the games are thought out over in Malaysia — next time we need more of us to overcome the challenge with a few more brains and bodies to find the clues!
Although we didn’t escape I had a fab time and will be back with my voucher to have a second round!

If you are looking for a fun, out-​of-​the-​ordinary activity around Manchester, look no further. I tried the Jail Break room, and I am definitely coming back to try the others! While the thought of being handcuffed to strangers and thrown inside a jail cell might not sound too appealing at first, you’ll find that you quickly bond while working together to solve clues and puzzles, and basically have new best friends coming out the other side of the room when the hour is over. Pair this with a bar and you have the perfect combination for one of the best entertainment spaces in Manchester. The venue was marvelous and the rooms were brilliantly created. The staff were all really friendly and helped make this an unforgettable experience for me. A big thank you to the Escape Room team and I hope to see you soon again!
