Good Chinese/Asian supermarket with larger and cheaper jars of herbs and spices and all the frozen dim sum you can imagine for cooking at home!

Located below the Tai Pan restaurant, this is a large Chinese(Oriental) supermarket which pretty much sells everything you could want for cooking Chinese food whethers its fresh, frozen, veg, noodles etc. It also got some other foods like e.g. Japanese foods like sushi rice, wasabi etc and Indian food — like various spices. Its also got the warehouse part of the supermarket if you want to buy large quantity(bulk) amounts of things like big bags of rice(20kg) — that could last you for ages!(Depending how much you eat!). Its open from 930am to 7pm everyday and has a fairly large car park so is handy. The restaurant above the supermarket can get very busy at certain times such as Sunday lunch time — this is when many families tend to go for a family meal. So this will mean the supermarket may be a bit busier but the car park will certainly be busier. Sometimes cars will be parked behind other cars«blocking» them in — and I think people give their cars to the car park attendant.

Don’t be put off by the bleak exterior of this building; it doesn’t look welcoming from the road but once you round the corner(the entrance is from the car park, just off Upper Brook Street) and head inside, it’s a real treasure trove. The store is split in two; one half is more like a warehouse but useful for kitchen utensils and equipment, the other half is food. And boy, do they have lots of it! You name it, it’s here from mochi cakes to gochujang sauce and everything in between. If you need an ingredient for a recipe that you can’t find in a supermarket, odds on you’ll find it here. But on top of that, they also sell things you’ll find elsewhere but much cheaper. Herbs and spices come in bags 10 times the size of those little Schwartz jars but at a fraction of the price. I get my gunpowder green tea from here — huge boxes of the stuff which keep me going for ages for next to nothing. TL;DR — Hard to source ingredients, authentic food and great prices.

Lung’s is my all time cash n carry fav. Apart from the regular items, a corner at the back of the store has been dedicated towards vegan n vegetarian eating. Being vegetarian doesnt have to be boring with just greens daily. Hey Presto! Try mock lobsters, mock wild boar, mock this and mock that and of course basic mock chicken too. These products are good n ive cooked many of them in curries, chinese, malaysian and others. But be the judge yourself by reading the labels and tasting them.

Love going here, every visit is an adventure! WH Lung sells all manner of East Asian groceries plus plenty of catering equipment. We go here whenever we’re cooking Japanese or Chinese food but there’s absolutely loads of different things. As a non meat-eater, I love the veggie stuff that they sell, you can get a massive box of bean curd for half the price you would pay for a teeny box of Cauldron stuff in any other supermarket. Plus, the frozen dumplings that you take home to steam are one of the finest quick snacks I can think of!

I love a good bargain and I love exploring and eating random foods from all over the world so a trip to Lung’s yesterday was pretty much one of the highlights of my festive break! First off, it’s a cash and carry and usually deals with trade so if you’re after giant sacks of stuff then you’re best heading into the warehouse area of the store. We stayed mainly in the supermarket side of it and as well as looking to buy around 8 random ingredients to cook a Korean lamb recipe that’s on our minds, we stocked up on essentials for the kitchens like spices, soy sauces and snacks like wasabi peas. Everything is in much bigger bags and at a fraction of the price so if you do cook a lot — I’d say get here to stock up! The big draw for me is the frozen seafood on offer. £5.95 for 1Kg of mixed seafood selection(take that supermarkets who sell 100g for £4), A big bag of octopus for £3.95 and 1Kg of king prawns for £7. This is all ideal to keep in the freezer for when cooking pasta, risotto and pizza(yeah I do love my Italian food) My main tip if you’re after a tasty and quick lunch is to grab some pork buns on arrival — followed by some dim sum from the freezer cabinet. That’s what we did and I’m still dreaming of the deliciousness now — double yum!

Cases of homesickness has been cured time and time again at WH Lung. And I still don’t know what a cash & carry is. The location is VERY convenient! Although, its entrance in the back doesn’t make it seem to welcoming, but do make your way to this supermarket soon! Located right across the street from uni(chemistry building?) and a couple blocks away from my flat! DEFINITEPLUS! And there’s a restaurant upstairs, but I have yet to try it. There’s a great selection of food here. And when I say food, I mean ramen. Seriously! There’s so many to select from! And at a pretty good value. There are also a huge amount of asian snacks as well, this was VERY much appreciated. Definitely head towards the dumplings/frozen section to check out what the goodies they’ve got there. And there’s a small selection of asian buns and pastries, small, but existent! Although, I have to say that the veggie and fruit selection isn’t too impressive, and a bit pricey, but then again, coming from abroad, I guess I am a bit biased in that area. Definitely a good place to try to recreate some of Mama’s home-cooking, try. But proud that I did!

Love this place. Dried herbs and spices are much cheaper than the supermarket. Also condiments and sauces too e. g soy sauce: Tesco 1.35 for 150 ml. Here it’s about 90p for a litre! Frozen fish here is good too. Shellfish is much cheaper and better than big supermarkets. The best thing about this place is the many interesting bits and bobs to try. Such as the dumplings which are amazing. Lots of different types and all delicious. Then there’s things like shrimp paste which costs a fortune in Tesco makes amazing Thai curry, ten different types of chilli sauces, pickled everything, sacks of dried mushrooms. Also there’s ‘local delicacies’ like chicken’s feet and rice wine Do yourself a favour: go there and spend a tenner on things you’ve never heard of!

Don’t go to the restaurant upstairs cuz the service is terrible. The food was below average. The waiters were too busy to serve us. We recently gave them a chance to impress us. But when waiting for a table our waiting number was not called out. Instead the waiting ticket number for the next customer who was behind us requiring also a table for 2 same as us was called out. When we confronted the lady receptionist she said that they worked on a party size waiting list. So we would have to sit and wait for an available table. We sat back down and watched a waiter query the receptionist to how many seats we were requiring. They looked over at us and reallised that we were only requiring 2 seats. The 2 seats they just gave to the couple a few moments ago should have been ours. So we left infuriated. Never again! Complete waste of time.

I always pass by this place when I’m on my way in and out of home on the Upper Brook street and I’m forever wondering what this place may have to offer! ‘Lung cash and carry’- honestly this place does have a rather funny name! Anyhow, after months of wondering, and after proclaiming my love about dimsums to a friend, I was sent here to look for them. Apparently they sold them in plenty. I was not disappointed when I was here. This place was a huge Asian Supermarket! If you’re looking at cooking some Korean/Chiniese/South Asian food tonight, do stop here for some shopping to be done! They have everything sorted and simplified, and the distinctive smell of such a store! And oh boy, they had the dimsums in so many choices I was left in awe! Prawn, chicken, pork, vegetarian all in huge packs of 20 or 50 just for £4 or £8! That is so much cheaper than buying probably just 4 a plate in a restaurant and paying around £6! All you have to do is boil them and enjoy them! Meal of the day folks! Absolutely loved it and the dimsums, were of course, the highlight of the trip!

I agree this little supermarket is great. I often walked past this, and others of its kind such as Wing Fat, and never went in. I think I was put off by the daunting prospect of going in and not knowing what anything was when everyone else around the shops appears to know exactly what they’re doing. However, as I’m a lover of Oriental food I eventually summoned the courage to go and have a browse. Though there is penty of stuff I am literally years away from being able to cook, if you start simply and ask for advice, you can knock up some really great Chinese or Thai dishes. Plus its pretty cheap, and if you need a wok, this is the place to get it. They also sell some groceries and all that shiz, which are not specifically Asian.

Located just off Oxford Road on Upper Brook Street, W H Lungs Cash & Carry(and Chinese restaurant) is made up of three parts; a supermarket, a cash & carry and a restaurant. The Supermarket stocks a selection of Chinese, East Asian and international foods and groceries. A great place to pick up spices, teas and speciality sauces, W H Lungs is a real gold mine for anyone who does a lot of Asian cooking. There is a good selection of fresh fruit, herbs and vegetables(including Holy basil which I am yet to find anywhere as cheap), East Asian dairy products and cakes. The supermarket stocks a lot of canned and dried foods which are a little cheaper as they are not fresh, there are also sacks of ready made dumplings, spring rolls and samosas which are really good for parties. The Cash & Carry stocks everything from cooking utensils to frozen meats and is a great place to stock up on rice(which is sold in huge 10, 20 and 50 kilo bags). I have never been asked for an official ‘Cash & Carry’ card which other places require when purchasing bulk items, the only request from staff is that you don’t take in a carrier bag or handbag in with you … perhaps in case you stick a 50 kilo sack of rice in there and try to pull a fast one? Who knows. I’m yet to try the restaurant and will update as soon as I venture up there. There are usually big parties of people coming up and down the stairs which I always take as a good sign, plus if they use the produce which they stock downstairs the food should be pretty good.

It is another big supermarket and cash n carry place. I got a roast duck there once and it was so yummy(Though it was not head off…)The smell was fab too. The selection is huge and not only Chinese ingredients, you can get Japanese, Korean, Indian etc. They also sell plates etc so you can feel as if you are in Chinese supermarket a bit! I do not think the price is that brilliant but it would be nice to browse to find your favourite one!

This is a good chinese supermarket with a fairly good range of chinese/asian foods. I’ve had some good bargains there — got an excellent wok for around £10 cheaper than elsewhere but on the whole I find other chinese supermarkets are cheaper. Howevere I did find things there that i couldn;t find elsewhere so it’s still worth a visit. It’s worth the visit alone for the Rootbeer! Not what I was expecting to find in a chinese supermarket but was glad I did. The staff are friendly & helpful & there is a decent sized car park. They also have a restaurant which smelt lovely but I can’t comment on the food as I haven’t eaten there.

this supermarket sells an extensive range of chinese and asian products. Its prices are mid range not always the cheapest sometimes u can buy cheaper from a major supermarket than buy in bulk from this supermarket. does tend to have some out of date stuff. so best to have a good look all in all recommended for the students nearby
