Super bon. Ambiance typique japan. Il y a un super choix niveau bouffe. Le chemin jusqu aux toilettes est etrange. Seul bemol les serveuses trop pressant a mon gout. Je vous recommande tout de meme.

Popped in here for a quick solo dinner on Wednesday, I’ve been to the Chinatown branch before but this one is much larger with a variety of seating areas(small bar tables for desserts and drinks, stools around the sushi conveyor belt and tables by the belt too). Got started with some miso soup, green tea and a few plates of sushi, the different varieties were put onto the belt in groups — rather than the Yo Sushi style of mixing them up. My favourite thing about the Wasabi restaurants is that you can get mackerel nigri, so yummy, the sashimi and maki are pretty good too. I ordered some chilli squid and gyoza from the hot food menu, the gyoza were perfect but the squid lacked flavour and crispness sadly. I saw quite a few people getting the Grilled Eel Unagi Rice, which is what I’ll be getting next time I go as it looked really good. The sashmi rice and ramen noodles also looked very good value for money, and if I’d had more time I’d have indulged in one of these. Overall the venue is clean, the staff are very efficient and you can have a quick meal if you’re in a hurry. They also do takeaway and a variety of different desserts, milkshakes and bubble teas. Will definitely be visiting again.

This Wasabi is much the same as the one in Chinatown — cheap and cheerful without being particularly amazing. It’s a great place for filling yourself up and trying different things, by grabbing them off the belt. As I was on a table surrounded by greedy people I ended up ordering a set menu with 10 plates off the belt and a miso soup. This was more than I needed and I ended up foisting off one of my dishes into Michael B. It’s great value though for £15. My thoughts on the food are exactly the same as at the Chinatown branch, so at least they’re consistent! Spicy salmon was very good. Nothing was particularly bad in my opinion but as before I wished there were more vegetable options — at Yo Sushi and other sushi belt restaurants I’ve visited there is always some kind of greens floating around which are always delicious. I’m sure I’ll be back!

Much the same as my last review on a different wasabi, it is no t the best sushi you can get. But it is the cheapest — the place is fun, fast and the food is tasty. I really like wasabi, it is one off my favorite places to go for a quick bit. I went to this one with a large group of fellow Unilocalers, and treated myself to a boat of sashimi with was enjoyable and got the everyone’s camera’s clicking as they look awesome. This wasabi is the largest of the one in Manchester, with plenty of seating on and off the belt — however don’t think this place is large. It sill can only fit about 30 –35 people. The service is quick and efficient. If you want some casual sushi time this place is a good bet.

Sadly I majorly erred in my ordering and the noodles were awful, they had quite a bitter taste and the meat was overdone. I have in the past had better noodle dishes from here, but now I wouldn’t risk it. The sushi is obviously not the greatest quality, at these bargain prices, but it’s fun to have the conveyor belt and Penny’s sashimi extravaganza looked good. I would now hesitate about coming back here because of my latest experience but won’t rule out if someone else suggests. I suggest though sticking to the sushi and sashimi. Service very good.

I was looking forward to this visit to Wasabi with fellow Unilocalers having heard that this seems to be the favourite of the three sites and the hospitable Duncan. I frequent the other sites due to their location and guarantee that I will be full after dining there. I enjoyed my experience here as I had great company and a couple of the girls ordered a Sashami boat which looked awesome and Natalie ordered a la carte and the meals looked and smelled wonderful. I didn’t see much variety on the conveyor belt and the experience was slightly hampered as the way the table is laid, I had to rely on someone else to grab my dishes. As there were many of us we ran out of soy sauce and ginger which both were not replaced. I will definitely come here again and try and be brave and select a variety of dishes rather than relying on the good quality set menus.

So my first official sushi dining experience in Manchester was at the recently opened branch of Wasabi on the Oxford Road Corridor. Their third after China Town and The Printworks. From what I’d already heard, I knew it wasn’t going to be ‘fine Japanese dining’(we’ve got the likes of Yuzu and Umezushi for that — the latter I’ve yet to try). But hey, anywhere with a constantly moving conveyor belt laden with tasty morsels is just about fine enough for me on occasion ;) This branch, though not exactly spacious, could still seat approximately 30 or so. Two high tables you could sit around and the rest of the side-by-side seating following the route of the conveyor. Their ‘off the belt’ menu is pretty straightforward — most on my table opted for ‘Wasabi A’ at £14.95 per person which consisted of up to 10 plates and a bowl of miso soup. At that price the plates have to be the grey ones; if you choose the purple/yellow or red there’s an additional charge of £1 or £2 respectively. I thought the format worked really well; you could start and finish at your own pace and weren’t at the mercy of over-stretched waiting staff bringing dishes over when ready — they only needed to bring your drinks orders and clear away the towers of empty plates you’d created. With vibrantly colourful and squeaky clean ‘Japanese Idol’ music videos playing on flat screens, it’s a fun place to grab some tasty food — not the finest quality I’m sure but excellent value for money.

never thought i would try sushi as it never looked appealing to me all the years my friends tried to persuade me to go but finally i did! set just off oxford road this neat little restaurant is welcoming inside there have a number of seats set around a bar type table with a conyeyor belt going as small sushi dishes pass you. They also have a few tables but dont catter for large groups so check before you book otherwise you might be scattered around the room. I ordered the set menu b which meant i could have three sushi bowls and one main vegatarian rice dish althought the sushi bowls look quite small if you have a main dish as well your actually quite full total for this was £8.95 but you can increase the amount of dishes you have to suit your needs. overall all the food i tasted was very good and i would recommend this place and will be visting again.

Wasabi is a casual Japanese restaurant with a sushi conveyor belt. I had Set Menu A which included 6 grey plates off the conveyor belt and a bowl of miso soup for £8.95. 6 is plenty for me but the others on my table had 10. I also ordered a tuna sashimi on top. There are hot dishes too such as noodles and rice dishes, which you can order from the waiter/waitress. It’s cheap and cheerful– really good value for money(my whole meal with a ¼ bottle of sake and a Sapporo beer came to just over £15) The quality of the sushi isn’t outstanding– I’ve been to much better Japanese restaurants in Manchester– but those restaurants are also more expensive. For me the rice is a little dry and my tuna was so-so. The restaurant is quite small and compact, so since we were in a big group we had to be split across various tables. A good place to come and fill up on sushi at an affordable price.

This is a cool a Sushi place. I ordered Set Menu A — which was 6 grey plates from the conveyor belt and a miso soup for £8.95. You can substitute grey plates for purple or red ones for an extra £1 or £2. There are other hot and cooked noodle, rice and stir fry dishes on the menu too. They looked nice and I’ll probably try one of these next time. The set up is nice, although the restaurant is small and rather compact. You can choose to sit along the conveyor belt or on small tables, making it good for if you’re grabbing a quick lunch alone or if you’re with a huge group of friends. As always, I majorly struggled with my pants chopstick skills, but somehow managed to get through my entire dinner without requesting a fork. Go me! The sushi I had was OK. I’ve had some amazing sushi at other places in Manchester so it really is hard for wasabi to compete with them. However, it was fun and enjoyable. I’m a Yo! Sushi fan — and if I would have eaten that amount at Yo! it would have cost around £40 so I’m certainly not complaining at all!

Delicious! Went for the set menu B — a main dish and three plates off the conveyor belt — great value if two of you do it! Doesn’t feel like much food but my god we were full by the end! Edamame beans the winner as usual. Chicken teppenyaki sweet and sticky, great flavour but a little dry. Customer service was excellent right up until the end when it felt like they were a little rude about ensuring we paid — that’s why it loses a star. Surprised this one hasn’t had any reviews yet as its in a really handy location just off Oxford road, well worth checking out — never too busy and always plenty of dishes to choose from.
