Firstly, staffs are very friendly. Friday night they have fish and chips night. Although its very crowded, fish&chips are crazy delicious

Weathers, weathers, weathers. Pretty standard as a weathers go. There’s plenty of seating and some nice window seats to kick back and relax on. The staff are pretty friendly and there is a beer garden out the back which is a fantastic place to go during the summer!

Wetherspoons — What can you say? The staff are very friendly and it is clean inside. The food was okay but you pay for what you get. It was very busy on this visit but is good place to go for somewhere cheap

This was my weekend’s compulsory visit a few months ago: either Friday or Saturday evening, I’d go there with friends for dinner, and I loved every bit of it! It’s not the place’s fault that I haven’t been there in a while, mostly my friends’ fault.

I and my step-daughter and her boyfriend visited this place on the 11÷12÷12 at 11:50,and she had a cup of Hot Chocolate and myself had a cup of coffee with my step daughters boyfriend having a pint of larger, only to find out that when he got it back to the table he found some sort of rubbish in it, at which he immeadiately took it back and it was replaced by a fresh one, now because of this we both had a breakfast each(which was a mistake as it was cold)

I suppose I shouldn’t complain too much about this pub as I ate here a couple of times and the food was quite nice. But it is your basic drinking barn Wetherspoons with nothing approaching any kind of charm and no change to the monotonous features except the slightly raised area at the back. And rating it as a pub I really can’t give more than two stars. Strong beers favoured with Phoenix Full Moon the only one under 5pc(it is 4.6)

Typical city centre pub. Bouncers on the doors at most times probablly as they need it. OK early doors but would avoid later on in the night.

Mixed grill on Tuesdays is nice: under £10 with a pint included(has to be under 5% alcohol though)

Standard Wetherspoons feel. It can get crowded on some nights, but for the most part it’s easy to get to the bar and find a table. I always love the burger and beer combo. Wetherspoons gets the job done if you’re looking for a decent pint or a bite to eat. The only downside is when it *does* get busy, there’s nobody taking care of the seating situation. Last time I was here and it was particularly packed(right before a game at Old Trafford), I got a lucky table with my mates for the burgers and pints we were enjoying, but as we looked around there were plenty of other tables that were just sitting there, not eating or drinking — just sort of hanging out for an hour. That’s all fine and dandy, but from a business perspective, you might want to clear out those tables when you have other people visibly looking for somewhere to sit with their pint. What I do like about this pub is that you have a full array of people — there’ll be a gathering of 70-somethings at one table, and a group of 20-somethings at the table next to them. Always fun to people-watch in this place.

Rubbish atmosphere with cheapish drinks but nothing to apetise the mind or palet. It’s an ok place if ur skint and in a large group but don’t come here looking to make friends with the dodgy characters surrounding the bar!

We stayed in the Premier Inn on Portland Street a few doors away and were extrememly happy to eat here with two children in tow. The beer and a burger offer of 5.10 for a pint of either Bulmers/Guinness/Tuborg/Carlsberg/Heineken and a decent sized burger with fries and kids meals for 3.99 was excelent value and meant two adults and two kids could eat with a drink for just under 20 quid. Staff were friendly and the pub was always busy. I would happily eat there again.

I liked it in there, staff were dressed smartly & very friendly, the service was pretty good although on one occasion I was waiting longer than necessary, there is a good range of beers, the menu is standard Wetherspoons although you know that you are getting quality combined with quantity. The one major thing that disapointed me was the quality of the beer, it wasn’t great, not good from my point of view. The pub gets very busy during lunch times as I was struggling to get a table. The pub is in a very ideal location as it’s a straight 10 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly BR Station, very handy if you’re in Manchester for a day out or got a long wait in between a lengthy connection whilst changing trains.

Considering there are at least three ‘Wetherspoons’ pubs in Manchester that I know of, it may come as some surprise that I have only just discovered the name of this particular one which is conveniently placed and easy to find right in the centre of town. The name is not, as some might have been led to believe, ‘TheSpoonsrightinthecentreoftownnonotthatonetheonebythetrainstationyeahthatsit’ or some other variation of the above, but rather more boringly it has been dubbed ‘The Manchester and County’. I wish my friends and I had known this earlier. It would have saved countless hours tramping about in the Manchester rain(and the occasional snow flurry) getting both wetter and angrier by the second trying to find which Wetherspoons it was we were trying to get to. As it stands, after four years of frequenting this place on the way to the train station, on the way back from the train station and really any other time I have been in town I have finally found out what it’s called. Sod’s law, innit. To tell you the truth this may be quite a short review. There is nothing about this place that probably hasn’t been said before and if you have been to one of the many branches of this ubiquitous chain of pubs then this particular ale house will not really surprise you. It has the same wallet friendly prices, the same well known beers, the same range of microwaveable pub-grub; yes, it has all been done before and been done just as well. Interestingly, or not depending on who you are, this is another Wetherspoons that has that rather distinctive ‘Wetherspoons smell’; musty, old and almost sterile. Whilst it is certainly not unpleasant it is most definitely noticeable. Perhaps it is the combination of food, stale beer and even staler patrons but it seems that this chain of pubs has, rather accidentally I presume, hit upon a brand new aftershave for the sensory deprived. A sort of Eau du Wetherspoon if you will. I wouldn’t if I were you go in expecting unfashionable ales or gourmet food a la Heston Blumenthal(who has in all probability created his own version of this pub out of pancakes and caviar) or anything other than a cheap pub for even cheaper people. The clientele doesn’t change and neither does the décor; dark, dingy and distinctly Victorian, the interior and the customers are almost interchangeable and there is as much wood in there as there is in a Ron Jeremy ‘Special’. As with other ‘Spoons pubs they have tried to sex the place up in an obvious attempt to tap into the student market but it all comes across as a bit out of place, rather like when your Dad decides to gel his hair into spikes and wear three quarter length jeans. Doesn’t work, does it? Don’t be put off by this though because in reality I am a rather boring pedant and this aspect of the Wetherspoons chain is pretty insignificant to anyone other than myself. The Manchester and County is fine for a quiet pint and chat with a few friends; whilst not being especially good, it’s definitely not bad either and if you’ve ever been to a ‘Spoons before then you know exactly what you will be getting. It’s location serves it very well and for a city centre pub it could be a lot worse; after all, it could be Brannigans, and we’ve already got one of them.

Oh I think this Wetherspoons deserves better. I must say I am not an air conditioning unit(big fan) of Wetherspoons pubs at all, and I’ve always thought the rumor that they fund the UK Independence Party a bit suspicious, but I must say this Wetherspoons is worth its salt. Its not the best in Manchester, as that slot is reserved for Chorlton’s absolutely incredible non-Wetherspoons-y Wetherspoons, but its pretty decent, and for its location, remarkable. Its as cheap as any other Wetherspoons, making it the cheapest pub in Piccadilly Gardens by a country mile. It does the standard Wetherspoons food as well, and in my experience this has always been decent quality. The breaded chicken burgers are amazing. In addition to the standard Wetherspoons menu, I also notice that this place was doing some specials, consisting of a beer and curry deal for £6, with four or five curries to choose from. Unlike my usual concept of a Wetherspoons, which focuses on Fosters that tastes like cold wee, the drinks selection here is wide ranging and consists of plenty of different European beers. I had a bottle of EFES, which was lovely. The downside is that at busy weekends all drinks come in plastic glasses. P. S. Having said all this, Sinclair’s Oyster Bar is cheaper and much better and only 5 mins walk away. P. P. S. Though i intimated in my intoductory remarks that the funding of UKIP should be thought of as ‘a bit suspicious’, I wish to clarify that though i ackowledge that these are only rumours, if they were to be true, it would not be ‘a bit suspicious’ but ‘an absolute discrace’.

Well. What can I say. Wetherspoons would read in the dictionary as ‘cheap, cheerful and British’. Don’t go there if you are expecting silver service, Whethers doesn’t claim to be anything it’s not. Its all about plentiful cheap booze and banter. Expect an evening of scrounging for seats around a cramped dirty table, old men staring at your legs, and inevitable intoxication. The Food? Average english favourites. You pay for what you get. No con’s or dissapointments. Basically, if you like to know what your getting, and this not being anything fancy, Wethers is the perfect place for some half-decent grub with your chums or a cheap and cheerful laidback drink after work. Cheap –check. Friendly– check. IT-Box– check. And the charming commonn riff-raff of Manchester– check. Why the hell not.

Thursday night. With my team from work usually. Beers all the way. Friendly and welcoming, a bit too busy in the night time. You do need to wait for quite a bit to get a beer, so my advise is to get a couple, not to return to the bar after ten minutes and wait to be served. It’s not that the staff ignores you, but there are way too many people in there. The atmosphere is quite merrier. We always end up having a nice time. The history of the place is also quite interesting. I mean they’ve started just with one pub, and now they own over 700. The Company was founded in 1979 by Tim Martin, who opened the first Wetherspoon pub, ‘Marler’s Bar’, at Colney Hatch Lane in London. Many of the other early Wetherspoon pubs were also in the same part of Haringey. Martin took the name of the chain Wetherspoon from an old schoolteacher of his. You can go there at any time, not only to enjoy a drink, but you can play on the quick machines, eat your lunch in there or have a chat and a cup of tea. Their food is quite good. Typical. English meals with fine ales. In the Christmas they had lots of beers with funny names, to make you drink in the spirit of the holidays. Hooray and cheers to everybody.

the good think about this place is its probably the first place you stop for a drink once you walk down from piccadilly and obviously the price of beer is dirt cheap. it has cleaned up its act slighly but the place use to stink of piccadilly down and outs for the cheap winos. but hence cheap beer and food it will always be a winner!

A part of the JD Wetherspoon’s chain this venue is very popular thanks to its city centre location on the main walking route between the two main train stations, and close proximity to the Picadilly Gardens tram stop. Inline with their policy of not paying for a music license this bar wont be found playing the typical chart music of the day, but the fact it is often so busy the general hubub of people meeting there before hitting the other city centre bars means this doesnt detract from its appeal. Serving the typical range of ‘spoons good value food and drink other than its location and layout there is little to distinguish this venue from any other ‘spoons venue across the UK.

Wetherspoons seem to be as omnipotent as Nero’s and Starbucks in our cities, although to be fair to Wetherspoons at least their ‘branches’ look different. As such you get decent ones(The Waterhouse) and not so good ones(the Wetherspoons on the Circus at the bottom of Portland Street, which itself carries two branches). This one, for me, falls under the not so good branch. It certainly packs the punters in, and at times can be very busy, mainly in part due to it’s location overlooking Piccadilly Gardens(and many of the bus stops at that end of the gardens). Come the chucking out from work hour, especially nearer the weekend, you can probably expect a fair few minutes wait at the bar. Standard ales you’d expect are served here with a the obligatory bottled alco pops behind the counter. I can’t say it’s the type of pub I’d frequent again but it’s much cheaper that the likes of nearby Kro Bar.
