So when you re in Melton Mowbray you have to try a pork pie so I though why not make the first pork pie I have the best! We had a pork pie sampler for £6.95 which I shared with the other half. It had a piece of pork pie, 2 chutneys, a chunk of Stilton, 2 door stops of artisan bread, salad & pickled onions, perfect for a peckish afternoons snack. As we were so hungry we also had a toasted Brie and bacon pannini, the bacon was crispy and thick cut, the bread was well toasted. I washed this down with a pot of tea. The pannini came with crisps and a salad. My friend had a crab, salmon & white fish lasagna which seemed to have a Marie rose style sauce in place of the white sauce which went well with the fish & had a breadcrumb top — delicious and came with bread and salad. Bill came to £27 which was reasonable. It’s open 8.30 to 5.30 on a Saturday & even open on a Sunday. A great place to visit as a local or if you are looking for somewhere try pork pie as a visitor.

Nigel and his team run a fantastic place here, very close to bell centre car park. A great cup of coffee and a nice selection of cobs also the only place you can get a pork pie on a Sunday so if your after a pork pie and a spot of lunch your best off in here.

Pie pie pie pie pie Stilton pie pie pie salad pie pie pie …and a coffee This is the best place in town to sit down and have a Melton Mowbray pork pie on a Sunday when the butchers are all closed. Treat yourself to a pie and cheese platter and ask the owners to see their selection of different pork pies. For the tourist in a hurry to taste both a Pork Pie AND Stilton cheese, fear not… they sell a Pork Pie with a Stilton topping!

Fantastic cup of coffee. I always have a large black coffee and Nigel makes it just right. The food is really good and the prices are reasonable.
