I am surprised that I have never reviewed Middleton Bus Station before, with it being the main public transport hub in my town. This isn’t the best of bus stations, to get a bus to many places you have to get a bus into somewhere else, although they is buses to different parts of Middleton like Heaton Park and surrouding areas like Rochdale, Bury, Manchester and Heywood, although some of these routes take considerably longer than the car. They is even a bus that goes straight to the central hospitals and universities in Manchster, to save you having to go into Manchester City centre and get another bus from their. They is even a very slow bus service to Ashton. Middleton Bus stations services are mainly from First and Stagecoach. Stagecoach have become one of the biggest bus stations in Middleton, since expanding and taking over 2 Middleton bus companies — Bluebird and JPT. This bus station is quite old fashioned, with mainly standard clocks at certain parts of the station, rather than digital. Toliet faciltiies, as with bus statons are paid. They is a very small newsagents but the selection for some things like Gluten Free crisps and good drinks are quite small, they do only sell Health Lottery rather than National Lottery. Middleton seems to be forgotten on the public transport scene, with no train station or metrolink in the city centre, the nearest to the city centre is still a good drive or bus ride away, it is probably Mills Hill, which is on the way to Oldham and the nearest metrolink station is probably Heaton Park, still quite far away. Do I wish we had a bus station like Rochdale? Yes, their station has better facilities, has better choice in destinations and is alot nicer and more modern, in a better location so close to another new, modern building where the library is, but Middleton bus station does get me started on my journeys some times, so I feel 1 star is harsh but I can’t give any more than 2 stars as the journeys from this station is not great for the forgotten city of Middleton.
