I quite enjoy going to this pub located in Barton Mills. The staff always seems to be friendly and are great to talk to. The Bull is divided into three different areas. The pub, restaurant, and hotel. The pub is comfortable but a bit small. They have a well stocked bar and service is professional and fast.(Thanks Emily, you rock!) Of course you can always have your meals served here too. The restaurant is quite large with various seating rooms that are great for private parties and meetings. The menu is varied with a lot of choices. You will also find do a number of dishes here that you won’t find in other pubs. Sadly I can’t write about the hotel as I haven’t been able to stay there, but I hear the rooms are nice. Finally, take a look at their website and the fliers they print. They are always holding different events from a murder mystery night to costume parties and mimi-concerts. The Bull is definitely a great location and a must visit if passing through.

A group of us went to the restaurant on the recommendation of someone who once worked at Lakenheath. Take a left at the front door and head straight back — that is the room we were seated in — it has a funky black and white pattern. The place was rather funky and hip compared to the other restaurants we ate at during this trip. I had the grilled fish(sea bream) with two pints o’ cider and the bill came to £32 — not exactly cheap and at the high end of the places we ate at as well. Overall, people enjoyed their meals — the place is funky and worth walking around; recommend that you hit this place up if you are in the area.

Below par service for the price you pay $$. We sat in the dining room for our anniversary dinner. Service was horrible. The waitress came by 2x in a 2 hr period and didn’t even offer a refill until I stared her down. Our food took 45 min. Steaks were great but why do they charge 3 quid for butter and 3 quid for bread? C’mon England! Way overpriced for the value. Won’t be back. Very disappointed.

This is my new favorite place. Great ambiance and excellent food. I had the roasted duck and parsnips(I didn’t even know I liked parsnips. So good!) my hubby had the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. We finished our meal with crème brûlée(the shortbread it is paired with is also amazing). My only regret: I was driving and couldn’t order wine.

Very VERY good. We are Americans and we were taken here by friends and we LOVED it. We were very impressed with the food and the service. I had the pork filet and my wife had the chicken with spinach. Both excellent. Beer and wine choices good as well. We will be going back!

Went there on a whim with a bunch of friends to eat. About 8 of us. They were busy and were still able to find a place for all of us to eat in on of their back rooms. They serve real food! I had the bacon Burger with Chips and Broadside. Quite expensive at about 28 lb(especially the way the dollar vs lb rate). But worth every pence. They have a real menu that changes from week to week. The staff served exceptionally, they even dealt with our wanting to split the check.

Who would not want to sleep in a room named after a cow with cowhide prints over the bathtub? This hotel is just perfect — quirky, fun — and it has a restaurant on site. Here is their confirmation email: «The Bull Inn at Barton Mills is not a B&B, its not a hotel, but it is an award winning boutique and quirky modern day coaching Inn, located near Mildenhall, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket in the picturesque county of Suffolk. The Inn simply radiates character, style and an eccentric passion, which is simply infectious to all those who visit. Think funky and fresh within an amazing 500 year old coaching inn. We have created 15 individually designed boutique bedrooms, AA Rosette dining rooms, cosy pub with great wines, real ales and an open log fire for those cold winter evenings. There is also a fantastic courtyard to while away many a summers day with family and friends. Improvement and refurbishment never ends at The Bull, we are driven by the passion to seek and trying new, exciting and sometimes crazy ideas! When it comes to eating you can go one of two ways, from amazing pub menu, served every day from 12noon to 9pm(9.30 on Friday & Saturday) to casual yet cosy modern dining in our AA rosette dining rooms. If you wish to enjoy an evening in our dining rooms please make a reservation to avoid disappointment. We do not take reservations in the pub and I am afraid we do not serve the pub menu in the dining room.»

Really great steak cooked to perfection, but starters were small and very expensive for what was served. Good place to go but would go more often if it was better value for money.
