Newarthill Community Education Centre

Newarthill Comminity centre will always hold a place in my heart. When I was a kid, I went to the Primary School just behind it, and the staff here used to let our mums come and take us here to have our packed lunches. This actually used to be the primary school, which my mum attended many years ago!
Over the years, I grew up attending it for loads of events, discos, dance classes and band nights, organised for 12 – 17 year olds in the area. The familiar clicking of my shoes up the laminated hallways and the bang of the heavy double doors bring back those fantastic memories of my primary years.
It is the centre of Newarthill, thriving on young, up and coming talented youngsters in any field of education or arts. The centre now houses a recording studio, which I have been priveleged enough to be a part of a couple of times, not singing mind you! (cat’s choir springs to mind)
The centre also holds dance classes for the prestigious Alison Kennedy, a very well established dance teacher.
You can hire out the hall, and even a catering service for kids parties, which is really handy as there is no where else around the area to do this.
The heart of the community, and hopefully will remain that way for many years to come.
