Awesome chippy that offers a mix of proper chippy chips and traditional fayre like ye olde battered sausage but also delivers on the kebab-shop fayre with the doner and the special chicken shish kebab getting a special mention. And if you go for a kebab, get the chilli sauce. You must, it’s just like a curry sauce — super tasty! Really good value too although the chip portions when sitting in are not the best — and the regular«chippy» curry sauce is floury.

You canny beat a chippy fae the Rex! The chips in here are delicious, always piping hot to the point of scalding and fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside, as a perfect chip should be! They have a wee sitty inny bit, which I have never been in, but you can rest assured that the granny and builder population of Motherwell keep those seats warm anyway. Maybe just a tad pricier than your run of the mill Chippy but above average so I don’t mind paying it at all. The pizzas are awesome too!

Used to go here every Friday with my parents after the shopping in Asda. Fond fond memories of queueing up peeking up on my tip toes to see what they had in the hot plate, as if I was ever going to get anything other than fish and chips(they do great pizza too). It’s has a refurbishment fairly recently and now markets itself as a café, though it’s really just a chip shop that happens to have a decent seated section with good service. They do home delivery as well as takeaway making it a popular place in Motherwell. It’s not cheap, but where is thesedays? It’s reliable, which is more than can be said for alot of takeaways so when you do pay an extra 50p or so from what you used to, you at least know you will enjoy it. The portions aren’t epic, which is my one main gripe, especially when you sit in. A good chip shop all the same, and a decent place before or after an event at the nearby Civic Centre or if you are off to the football.
