Bradbeers Department Stores

A cold and wet day of our holiday found ourselves in a very old fashioned department store in new milton the items for sale were different and not over priced. The shop is having its summer sale so bagged some real bargains. Lunch in the restaurant was lovely had a wonder in the bedding and curtain dept fantastic amount of stock the staff took the time to make small talk with us even though they must have known we werent buying. Next floor down was ladies fashions and undies I had a lot of fun and brought quite a bit !!! the staff again were great .Then down to the ground floor what a mix. Makeup and skin care didnt spend a penny but was given some sumples of cream for my dry skin and good advice then to handbags and sewing bits, ornaments, funky slippers again the staff let us know they were there with out being pushy. Then through to the mens dept Husband brought shirts and tshirts again the staff couldnt do enough for us we, then found my favorite dept hidden away LADIES SHOES the colours and styles Husband was sat on a sofa. son was given a dustpan and brush and asked to help tidyup, while i tried on countless pairs of shoes .We had a lovely afternoon thanks to the wonderful staff eventhough the store doestnt have anything for children my 5 year old son was made very welcome.

Bradbeers in New Milton looks old fashioned from the outside and certainly does appeal to the older people. Romsey however is a lot smarter and more modern. But inside, the important part, it is well stocked with good quality items at fair prices. Compared to more trendy stores, you may have to look a little more closely to find what you want because there is a lot of stuff on display. It’s owned by nice people and that permeates right through the business — the staff know their products and they won’t try to sell you anything that is not right for you. There used to be lots of shops like this but sadly many have not survived in competition with the hard-​sell merchants. Do give them your support.

Bradbeers is an old fashioned looking department store, there is another branch in Romsey. There is a separate kitchen shop which is well stocked and a good perfumery and make up section. Also downstairs you will find numerous ideas for gifts, a sewing/​knitting section/​handbags and suitcases. I you are looking for middle of the road type clothes you will find them in the gents’ department downstairs and the largewomens’ section upstairs. It has a very good lingerie department and the staff are well trained and helpful. On an upper floor upholstery and dressmaking sections and furniture sections. Not particularly welcoming from the outside but worth a visit.
