We attended Noosh restaurant having heard about the fantastic food on offer and thinking a Moroccan would be something a bit different to share amongst friends having a catch up. We rang in the afternoon to reserve a table for 13. When we got there on a Saturday night there were around 3 other couple in the restaurant in total, so it certainly was not busy. We all put our orders in and enjoyed catching up. The starters took an unbelievable 1 hour to arrive. Mine was admittedly tasty, but others were cold having no doubt been sitting on the side for some time. Then came the main courses. After some thorough querying with the kitchen staff and the waitress, after a further 45 mins we were told that some of the main courses that we had ordered 90 mins earlier were unavailable, and had to swiftly order something else.(At this point we were very close to leaving for elsewhere, but the evening was getting late and we simply wanted some food!). Our main courses finally arrived — over 2 hours after we first got to Noosh. Some were tasty, some were cold, and some were bizarrely served with McDonnald chips from around the corner. Very, very poor. This took up our whole evening and was by far the worst service I have ever experienced in Newcastle.

Had a meal there last night a voucher for Moroccan meal the starters skewers and vine leaves were lovely. For mains we had vegetable Cous Cous and a lamb trarrine they were both lovely the lamb fell off the bone easily and aromatic sauce was lonely. They do steaks and we saw some being served and they looked lovely with nice crispy looking chips. I liked being able to watch the chefs working from our table.

I took the kids along for sunday lunch. 1 course at £12.49 was pricey given the small portion size but was quite nice. My family are not big eaters, but needed a dessert to fill up. Chocolate sponge was fairly average but the kids polished it off no problem. £3.95 for lemonade with fresh orange was expensive(my son wanted fanta) and I wasn’t too chuffed to see how pricey the drinks were on the bill. Morrocan take on lamb chops with yorkshire puds was slightly odd but it was a Sunday! Ha ha. Overall, average but probably wouldn’t visit again.

How difficult is it to notice if you’e run out of cheese? Not difficult at all at Noosh it seems as they were were unable to provide that dessert option either as advertised or in an alternative form when we ordered it to finish off our meal on March 10th. Clearly no-one was trusted with petty cash to make a run to the local Tesco to save their blushes. This was a shame as it made me give them the benefit of the doubt and order the cheesecake which turned up rather over adorned with cream, ice cream, chocolate sauce(provoking the thought that a plum was atop the slice) and black cherries. Less would have been more. Prior to this drop off in standards though our meal was decent no issues with the starters(indeed the hummus was too much for one person) or the mains and pricing and service were both good. I wonder though how many people shell out £40+ for a bottle of wine when 2 courses are coming to only £10.95? May want to look at that pricing structure as well as the spelling on the ice cream board.
