I may be slightly jaded now that I’ve been here for six months, the breakfast is excellent, wings Wednesday is a massive hit but I want a fan of the pizza here!

Quick history lesson… Shark Club is a Canadian chain based out of Vancouver BC. Shark Club Vancouver is the top spot in town to watch hockey. I am from Vancouver … This Newcastle version is good but misses the mark a little bit. I must say they brought lots of the things I miss from Home. If you have ever been to Vancouver the style of service and décor is what most bars are like. Table service is a beautiful thing if done correctly, The girls I have had the few times I have been fall apart when it comes time to take your money. They are unable to split bills, count change or calculate a tip. They have great food! Big Canadian classics THISISTHEONLYPLACE I HAVEFOUNDSOFARTHATSELLSCESARS … Proper ones too. Cheap wing night. Never complaining. Lots of screens that play all major sports.

I’ve been here for drinks a few times, but my boyfriend and I spent a longer evening here to watch the World Cup match of Belgium vs USA. We reserved a table a few days in advance — though we didn’t have to, as on a Tuesday evening there were plenty of free places to sit. However, for England football matches(and Newcastle matches, surely) it gets crowded! But it’s a great place to watch sport as they have TVs absolutely everywhere. It reminds me of an American sports bar in that way. They have a lot of specials like Wednesday wing night, and half price bottles of wine on weekdays from 3 – 6 pm. We ordered some food, and were a little disappointed by it. We got the«special» Brazilian-style pizza(a World Cup special) and both really disliked the spicy, vinegary sauce. Pizzas are £7.95 Tuesdays, which is a good deal as they serve two(plus an app or salad) but don’t get that one. Crust was good, but«Brazilian» sauce was rubbish. Good thing that’s not a permanent menu choice. The wings were a little better — We got a double order for £9.95, which meant we could pick two flavors. We got hot(which were like normal Buffalo wings, only not as good) and Jack Daniel’s Bourbon(which were actually pretty good, sweet yummy flavor). The wings themselves were small and not especially crispy. I also got a small side salad for £3.95, which had quite a good amount of veggies in it and was nice to have with all the unhealthy food. Beer is normally priced for city centre, and they have Blue Moon on draft which I always appreciate. Service for dinner was pretty painfully slow, however. But if you check in on FourSquare you get 20% of your food order, so there’s that! Both of us were put off by the food and determined only to return for drinks when there’s a big game to watch and we want an Amurrrican sports bar vibe. It is a good place to go for drinks with a group, as their tables are really big and there’s a TV hung up in each booth. Little private areas to reserve for larger parties too — just don’t come hungry!

Having been out on the town, and not quite looking to head home, my friend suggested we pop in for one last pint to top the night off. It’s a sports bar at it’s heart, with tons and tons of screens showing anything and everything. The staff are extremely friendly and chatty, especially considering that we wandered in approximately 30 minutes before closing time and made ourselves at home! Beers are reasonably priced for a) city centre and b) late license so you can’t complain. They offered food until late hours as well, so again, all good. Situated right next to St James Park, I’d imagine this a damn fine football pub on match day as well. It was still busy when we were in at night!

Physically connected to the Sandman Signature hotel but a separate enterprise this bar is a halfway to a sport /hooters type bar and great if you like that type of bar. I was there as it serves as the food arm of the hotel. Breakfast was awesome and the staff were similarly awesome. Happy to chat and give you the low down on the local places of interest and things to do.
