The Vineyard

The Vineyard is one of my favourite places in Newcastle city centre to go for a civilised pre-​meal drink. The beer selection is good, the wine selection is fantastic and the atmosphere is intoxicating. Oh, and yeah, their loos are incredibly cool. This is not a place for a big group of lads on the piss to go before hitting the NUFC match, but it’s definitely suitable for a small group to meet up before a nice meal or for a date.

My friend Butcher introduced me to The Vineyard four or five years ago — and rather than being mesmorised by the selection of beers (Duvel). I was mesmorised by the fucking toilets. Srsly, it’s like walking into the set of some fucking Hollywood epic or some shit. When you walk in — you half expect to see Peter O’ Toole as Lawrence of Arabia leaning over the grandiose urinals holding his errrr — bottle of Duvel. It’s definitely some experience.
Hennyway. Apart from the toilets, and not exactly having a massive variety of beers to choose from, aswell as the place being small, and being prone to fill up EXTREMELY quickly. This place has a wonderful charm, which it would be fantastic if half of the overly pretentious Newcastle bars could replicate.
Highly recommended.
