I love this place for its atmosphere, staff and food. They go out of their way to look after you

Finally gotten around to having brunch at Ernest this morning and so glad I did! It’s quite hidden away so think you have to search it out rather than stumble across it. I ordered the scrambled egg and asked for chorizo too. The portion was huge and I didn’t even manage to finish it which is a rarity for a foodie like me. The eggs were cooked just right and were so flavoursome with the chorizo adding that extra bit of umph. My friend ordered the chorizo hash bowl which was equally generous and satisfying. It can get quite busy with lots of tables reserved so it’s worth getting there early. On a nice day like this morning however there was also ample seating outside. The service was pretty slow I have to admit and the staff don’t seem too eager to go the extra mile but I would definitely return for the quality of the food alone!

Consistently amazing food from here with some excellent craft beers on tap too. Friendly helpful staff in a quirky atmosphere. Cannot recommend this hidden gem enough. Try the hash bowl and a Bloody Mary. You won’t be disappointed

This place is so delicious, what a find! We went here for brunch today with some friends, pitched up around noon with no reservation and got seated in about 10 minutes. It is a popular place, so you might want to book up! The café is cute and cozy, with lots of quirky décor and fun colors. Everything on their menu looked fab, but I got the Eggs Ernesto — like eggs benedict, but with pesto spread on the muffin, spinach and rocket salad, and bits of pancetta and halloumi scattered throughout. Yum! The eggs were perfectly poached, there wasn’t too much hollandaise, there was lots of nice fresh salad, and the crispy bits of meat and cheese were so good, I kept digging around for them even after I was full. Big portion for £8.50! Everyone in our group was really satisfied. I also tried the sweet potato chips, which were more like wedges — had a more soft, roasted feel rather than a crispy chip feel, but still delicious. Everybody’s food was very fresh and they have lots of creative offerings. Their orange juice isn’t fresh squeezed, bear that in mind when ordering. They do nice art with the milk in your coffee, leaf prints and whatnot. Service was a bit slow, but other than that, we all loved the place. This is the kind of place Newcastle needs more of, and I can’t wait to come back and try more of their delicious food.
