To be honest the people working there are really arrogant and not very customer friendly if you’re not wearing the right ‘on-trend’ clothes, and on one occasion I felt I could have slapped one of them for being so annoying. They sell overpriced sceeneyweeney clothes that only the rakiest of 13 year olds would wear, although the nail varnish and hair dye is an ok price but the nail varnish tends to go a bit gloopy after a few months. I stopped buying things from there when I was fourteen.

Kathmandu(or 3rd and 56th street(i think)) used to be a people based shop supplying unordinary clothes to people that wanted it, but over the past few years, its become a shop all about profit, to be honest the owners dont care about the customers anymore as its all about the money. They have a range of weird things but the layout of the shop is too crowded which is extra bad at weekends when it is packed of people. they sell some nice stuff but i find it is overpriced. most of the outfits are skimpy, and are at a small size, but i guess this is what people want? a few certain members of staff are very self absorbed and often rude to customers, but a couple are nice. some stock they have i have not seen any where else, but ‘shag bands’ seem to be the main thing brought. most clothing is good quality.

Kathmandu is not a bad shop but it’s definitely not the best in my opinion. It suffers from over-popularity and as one of the few stores in Newcastle to sell gothic/emo type clothing, they are able to charge through the nose for their wares. The selection also leaves a bit to be desired at times, as often enough you can only find rather cheesy stuff that no-one over 18 would feel that smart wearing. It’s still worth checking out if a sale is on or if you desperately need something suitable to wear, but if you have a bit of time on your hands you would be better off buying online. That said, they are quite good for alternative hair dye colours and make-up, which is why I’ve given 3 stars.

This is a brilliant shop for goth/tribal clothing and accessories. The prices are a bit high but the clothes are good quality. There is also a range of body jewellery.

I remember when this was more of a hippy shop circa 1998. Today I’d say it’s become a bit trendy. This shop sells mostly clothes and accessories aswell as make-up, jewellery and skeletal ornaments. There are a lot of good names such as Lip service and Tripp. Cyberdog items can be found(fewer and fewer) in the back room. There are two small changing rooms with mirrors that make you look two sizes smaller. The staff are friendly. Avoid going here on a Saturday if you want to avoid the plague of teeny greenies.
