I can only give this restaurant 5 stars? It’s definitely a 10! When you first enter your senses are greeted by the fabulous aroma of sea fresh fish cooking. The staff are great! Welcoming, friendly and really knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant is small but spacious enough for diners not to be up close and personal with those seated close by(I hate that) There’s some pretty excellent artwork on display all or some of it for sale too. The menu is a treat. I love the big cast iron pots of mussels in cream and white wine with wheaten bread on the side so much I want to lift the pot and drain the liquor after finishing the mussels!(I haven’t yet!) The beer battered fish chips and mushy peas is a delight and the fish of the day is always something special. I think you will have realised by now that I absolutely love fish all fish(except lobster and oysters to which I am allergic unfortunately!) Every meal I’ve ever eaten here has been truly excellent. This is a place for that special occasion be it a birthday, anniversary or celebration it’s worth the drive which is lovely in itself especially on an early summer(or what passes for it in NI) evening. That stretch of road into the village of Dundrum is beautiful with the drumlins on either side it makes me feel really happy to live here. Ok I’ve gone on a bit so I’ll stop now but if you enjoy seafood and even if you don’t you should definitely make a pilgrimage to MSB Dundrum

This is a restaurant that impresses us as New Englanders who are snobs about seafood. Over several years and multiple visits we have never been disappointed.

Sweet mother mercy if this food was a woman I would put a ring on her finer today. I have rarely tasted such beautiful food and relish every visit. The food is all locally sourced and this really comes across in the fresh tasting fruits of the sea. If you like fish then this should be your second home.

I have been wanting to go to this place for AGES It has always had great reviews in posh magazines that you only get to read at the dentists(who are people with psychopathic tendencies) In the middle of Dundrum, which looks delightful(even though it was dark when we got there) a trip in daylight would be worthwhile. It was my birthday so the lovely GF took me as a surprise, we were booked in for 7 and were a little late but we were the only ones there so needn’t have bothered with a booking. The place gradually filled up from 7.30 on but I don’t eat late so suits me. Everyone told me how great /wonderful/fantastic Mourne Seafood Bar was… but NOONE told me this is where Sir Edmund Hillary trained before his ascent on Everest… I mean MANITWASCOLD!!! They put us near the window and it was bad… we asked them to put heat on and it was great then. Food was fantastic, a smallish menu by some standards, but what you got was finger lickin’ good! To start we had a mixture of chili prawns and hot and salty squid… mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! For my main I had smoked haddock(it was a hard decision) which came on a bed of crushed spuds and vegetables, delicious! GF opted for the BIG pot of mussels(oink oink) in garlic, white wine and cream, with chips and a side of wheaten(which I ate oink oink oink!!!) To finish we shared the white chocolate cheesecake and mango and passion fruit mousse, pure heaven. But afterwards it was terrible… I needed a lie down, and I could hardly breathe!!! Too much good food, my 20 inch waist could hardly take it all in… serves me right for having a THIRD slice of the delicious wheaten. I just cant say no when it is there right in front of me begging to be eaten, with a gorgeous pat of real butter, not this make believe spread that might look the same as real butter but has the taste of used tractor oil. We will be back! And before too long . Go!
