We had a set menu, great price for what we had, but flavours were very bland. I had a chicken breast with peppercorn sauce(mushroom sauce actually came) with veg and chips. Service was good and atmosphere was buzzy. Good location.

Was really good when it was first set up, but the last couple of meals I’ve had there have all been really disappointing. Don’t think I will return.

This was my first time dinning in this establishment and I’m afraid it may be my last. Firstly the interior is quaint and very Romanesque, which is creates the perfect ambience. However as we were seated, the imagery of Rome was destroyed — the waitress(Kasia) was so rude. She did not make the effort to talk to us apart from throwing the menu at us and snarling something. The meal came and my faith was restored, the food was nice and definitely peaked my pallet. The joyous occasion of the food was soon overshadowed by the waitress returning and giving us the bill and ran away before we had the chance to pay. Finally 15 minutes later we were able to pay and leave. We waited for our change to be returned but after waiting for a substantial time we left. Overall great food(4/5)but poor service. The other staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The prices are fair, the staff profesional & you can eat at 3 in the afternoon if you wish. The food is prety standard italian but on a bust evening the atmospher is great :)

To be honest i was a little disappointed with the food on the three occasions i have been to Scalini’s. The food just wasn’t up to the mark. Each time i have gone i have wanted my lack of faith to be proven wrong but unfortunately they just haven’t delivered good food.

One of Newcastles many Italian restaurants, and in my opinion one of the best. As with all the italians in the city, they offer great prices, and happy hour food deals which if I remember right makes a pizza or pasta £4.50 if you’re eating before 7. Even later on the food prices are very reasonable. Lovely place to sit outside on a summers day. Would recommend booking if you’re going at night though, as can be a bit of a wait for a table. You can sit at the bar upstairs but it’s a bit pricey. Recommend the Gnocchi or one of their many pizzas.

This is a great place to go for a meal with loved ones or out for a works do as they have something for everyone. They serve lovely pasta with a great hapy hour menu. For those that go at other times it is not expensive. The starters are varied and they do several lovely types of brushetta I usually get this with the greek salad to start. They have all types of pasta but the gnocci from here is lovely with a nopli sauce. They do steaks and chicken for plain eaters and a range of vegetarian meals. They also have a childrens menu on where they can get pasta or fish fingers and chips etc I would try the cheesecake if you have room. People tend to hang around the patio heaters for a drink outside after a meal. They do add 10% to the bill if you have a party of ten or more so dont be suprised by that. The meals are quite good value and the service is quick but the food is wonderful though if you are going first time I would try the happy hour which is 12 – 7 to see if you like it there

This is a popular Italian restaurant located on Osborne Road in Jesmond. The menu is reasonably priced and offers a wide variety of foods(Hot and cold starters, pizzas, pastas, risotos, meat and fish dishes, desserts, etc) with a good selection for vegetarians. The staff are always friendly and the service when I have been there has always been quite fast — which is always a bonus when you’re starving! The restaurant has it’s own bar upstairs and is also handily situated on a main road in Jesmond so is close to other bars if you fancy a change of scenery.

Wonderful restaurant which offers a lunchtime happy hour with selected pizza and pasta for a mere five pounds. The quality of the food is superb and in the numerous times I have visited, the service has always been great, even when visiting with a large group of friends. One of the very best restaurants in the area and well worth a visit, its pizza and pasts are delicioud, with good choices for vegetarians. There is also a good bar upstairs.

My favourite Italian ever and not just because my boyfriend and I had our first date there and we now go back every year on our anniversary. The food is amazing and a nice size as I usually struggle with portions in Italian restaurants. The staff are quick, efficiant and generally very friendly as a rule of thumb. The house white wine is my favourite wine, Im unsure of what kind it is but it’s great. It’s easy to get to as it’s not far out of town and easy to find on Jesmond’s Osborne Road. The pizza’s are a nice size, tha pasta dishes are delicious and the sea food is amazing, especially the mussles! There is also a nice little bar upstairs to keep you busy before or after your meal.

This place is run by English but calls itself Italian. The food is pretty good though and it is one of the most popular pizzerias in the area as it’s bang in the middle of the Osborne Road making it an easy place to get to for everyone. I like the décor inside, it feels snug and the waiters are running around trying to keep everyone happy. The service tends to be good and the portions are a good size although it’s best to start off with some yummy garlic bread if you are only going to have one course. I recommend the pasta with courgettes and shrimps, probably the best meal I’ve had at Scalini’s!

Scalini’s is your standard, cheap ish english run Italiain restraunt. The food is Ok but nothing to write home about and is more expensive than some of the more authentic restraunts in the area however it is also more commercial and in an excellent location with its own bar above. I would recommend scalini’s for larger parties that need little intimacy or atmosphere and relatively quick food.
