Great pub located by the Tyne. Good pub to go to for a quiet drink and a chat. Pleasant décor, relaxed atmosphere, and never too busy. Good pub grub is served here, and there is also an excellent terrace overlooking the river.

Great beers and atmosphere for a quiet friendly pint. Even when it’s busy the wait at the bar isn’t too long, staff are friendly and accommodating. Worth a look if you want to be out of the way of all the hen and stag dos. Great terrace seating area with a nice view of the Tyne bridge too.

Big old turn of the century pub located in the grounds of the castle in fact wedged between the keep and the curtain wall and right next to the bridge over the tyne. Its all red and dark wood inside with plenty of comfy seating. Good wide range of real ales kept very well from my sampling.

Cracking interior and a range of ales and other alcohol to match. No discerning visitor to Newcastle should leave without stopping in here for a drink or two.

Top notch pub if you like proper pubs! Great ale choice, always a seat, although not always in the best bit at the back with a view, and decent nosh. Its nicely tucked away from the mad crowd of bars around Central Station too, so never gets too busy either. Only recently discovered it, but will become a favourite.

love it! Great beer choice, friendly staff and the best view in town. Psst don’t tell anybody but this is a great place for a after match pint as you can still buy two pints for under a fiver. Not bad for middle of town. The smokers can enjoy the terrace with a view over the Tyne with some heaters available.

The Bridge is one of thise pubs that doesn’t change. This isn’t a criticism. It’s always a pub you can pop into with mates and get a decent pint form the various selection, but still be able to have a chat. I must be getting old because the last few times I’ve been in I’ve just ended up getting a seat and staying there for the night. I suppose it saves time wandering round looking for another bar.

I stumbled across the Bridge Hotel last Saturday when visiting friends in West Jesmond. I have to say this place has come up in the world since I was last there 10yrs ago or so. Lovely décor, the food was amazing, not pricey and the crowd were lovely and sociable. We ended up leaving after the perfect Saturday night. I’m definitely coming back for more. Rate: 4⁄5

A real ale drinkers paradise-or any kind of drinkers paradise for that matter. The choice of beverages is PHENOMENAL, and its all well kept too, and not too pricey. This is a traditional drinkers bar which has not yet been polluted by the glitz and canned music found a stones throw away on the quayside(but thankfully it is perched above it and away from all the hussle and bustle). It is positioned right next to the High Level Bridge(hence the name) and is a comfortable venue for quiet chat and contemplation on a Sunday afternoon with a quality pint.

Positioned slap bang next to the High Level Bridge, it has the all important beer garden, with benches and easy access to the bar upstairs. It has one of the best views of any bar from here as you look down the bank over the quayside, and the Tyne Bridge and the Swing Bridge are below. There is always real ale on too! Good place for a pub lunch, and not too busy or noisy at the moment while the High Level Bridge itself is out of action.
