As my first ever all-you-can-eat buffet experience I was amazed with China China overall, it was brilliant, although having been to many more places that have popped up lately in other areas, it’s been knocked down the hot-list considerably. That’s not to say it’s a bad place to eat because it’s not, far from it. A lovely atmosphere, greeted by friendly staff etc. and the food is quite yummy, it’s just there are better options if you’re willing to travel. Price wise, can’t fault it. Relatively cheap for a whole host of food. Drinks are a little steep, but they are in most similar places to be fair. Food. it’s nice. Not brilliant, but you’ll still scoff down a few plates and enjoy it. Always been fresh and well stocked when I’ve eaten there, and a good variety of options and desserts. The difference is noticable when you go to a better place though. For what it is, it does the job well. As far as Newport goes it’s the best around. but if you fancy a really great buffet meal with the missus or a group of friends and want the best, travel.

If you’re after cheap, decent chinese(buffet style) food, this is the place to come. This is by no means Michelin star cuisine, but i’d recommend the chicken in black bean sauce, BBQ ribs and the chicken wings. Worth checking out if you’re looking for cheap chinese food.

My daughter went with a bunch of friends for her Birthday meal. They were in and out within an hour and had a great time. The food was of a decent standard and was great value for money, but soft drinks were expensive. The only negative comment was the lack of choice with some lines not available. It was 5pm on a Saturday. Overall a good place for a teenage outing.

I like china china because I can take the kids and we can all eat for a reasonable price. We have always liked eating out and now with money a bit short we still go out and eat well for a lot less than I am used to paying. Besides that the food is good and the choice is such that we all get something we like. dg

While the lunch menu might be good value at around a fiver, the food is no better than average, and I would not go again in the evening when the price doubles but the same food is served. The staff were efficient but were not hiding the fact the didn’t really want to be there. I think I would rather grab a takeaway from the Slow Boat than go to China China again.

China China is a very popular buffet restaurant situated just opposite the popular pub Walkabout on bridge street. It is an all you can eat buffet with prices being £6.99 during the day and more after 6pm. You can go up as many times as you like and help yourself to the main chinese which is usually Rice, Curry, Chips, Salt & Pepper Ribs, BBQ Ribs, Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings, BBQ Chicken Wings, Prawn Crackers, Sweet and Sour Chicken and much more. You can then help yourself to dessert to which usually consists of mini doughnot, mini chocolate balls, cheesecakes, fruit and ice cream. You can order your drinks from the waiters/waitresses which are always around to help. If you have children they do have highchairs for them. Children under 5 eat for free and there is a selection of nuggets, soft potatoe waffles etc for them also.
