We paid a visit to Nonna Gina’s on Saturday for a quick lunch while we were out running messages/errands. It was a total spur of the moment decision as I was a bit tired and needed a break before we continued our shopping at The Avenue! We were able to get a seat easily but by the time we left, the place was totally full so be warned if you’re expecting to be able to just pop in. We ordered off the a la carte menu — there is also a lunch two course menu(and there’s seniors menu but they didn’t offer us that) — I got gluten free penne with a bolognaise sauce, and Graeme got macaroni cheese and curly fries. I loved my bolognese — the sauce was so incredibly rich and delicious, it had that really authentic, homemade taste to it. I was impressed they were easily able to do gluten free and actually have a whole separate GF menu. Graeme didn’t like his macaroni cheese so much, it was a little watery. The curly fries were awesome. Overall, it was a nice lunch and service was very friendly, if not a little slow(like I experienced the first time). Our bill was more than I was expecting but I think it’s because we ordered from the a la carte menu. If I was going to choose a local Italian I think I would probably pick La Vita over here based on the price!
