Ashers is a nice little bakery, I’ll be honest, I’ve not been there often enough to decide whether or not its gone downhill like Judith C says it has. It serves some fantastic home baked goods, which are always welcome in my belly! Their cornish pasties are awesome! Sometimes the fillings of these yummy pasties can be very bland but not at Ashers, they are seasoned to perfection! Yum!!!

This little bakery is part of a larger baking company, and since it’s only round the corner from my house, it’s pretty much my local! TO be honest, it has gone downhill in recent years. When it first opened(many, many moons ago!), the bread was always beautifully fresh, the sausage rolls had just the right amount of crispiness and the buns were very moreish. Now though, it’s just not as good. It might be that my own tastes have changed, but I don’t think it’s as simple as that. I think a combination of general decline and competition from supermarket bakeries has allowed Asher’s to go downhill. That said, it’s still grand for some fresh crusty bread on a Saturday afternoon, and it’s always nice when you don’t have to give more of your money to Tesco, right?
