Barkers in Northallerton is a great department store stocking quality items in a good range of departments. There are clothing, homeware, shoes and gift ranges and staff are both knowledgeable and helpful.
It is well located on Northallerton high street with a large free disc car park right outside the back doors making it convenient for both local and out of town visitors.

Barkers Department Store, situated in the centre of the High Street, offers an incredible range of merchandise, including some of the worlds leading brands of fashion, lingerie, menswear, shoes, handbags, cosmetics, cards, luggage, gifts and homewares. On the first floor is a recently refurbished 200 seat restaurant with views over the Applegarth Park and an excellent menu specialising in home cooking.
The store also has an online shopping facility.

Barkers is a one stop shop, for a small town the size of Northallerton, Barkers is the jewel in the crown. Its like a small Harvey Nichols. Really centrally based on the high street, a huge car park behind it — some free parking available but you may have to pay. Barkers has so much choice and variety of good quality makes. A well stocked shoe department, make up, beautiful handbags, a big range of cards and gifts, items for the home such as pots and pans, a mens clothing department, and thats all downstairs! Upstairs, — lifts available — there is a café, a lovely bedding department selling Dorma and other quality makes, luggage is also for sale and then of course the ladies wear department. Most of the quality names are there — Planet, Aquascutum, Liz Claiborne to name a few. The service is fantastic, nothing is too much of a problem. You can get it all (nearly) here.
