Just around the corner from the Norwich Castle is a hidden gem of a café, Casaccio’s. Focusing on sandwiches and salads for the lunch crowd, they do a great job. As I was paying the check, I also noticed that they have a nice selection of various scones and teas. There is extensive outdoor seating, but I am not sure as to the smoking situation. For me and three workmates, it was a tight fit in the back dining room, but we made it work. Drink options are limited to canned and bottled sodas, some of which are cold and some are not. It seemed that our request for ice was a hassle for the server. My apple, blue cheese and walnut on a white baguette was fantastic, even though it was very difficult to eat. The stuff just kept escaping out the back end of the sandwich as I ate. Fork to the rescue. The turkey and cranberry baguette was pretty normal looking. The winning meal at the table was absolutely the seafood salad, which was a big piece of smoked salmon and a pile of prawn(«shrimp» in American) salad on top of lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes. Other than the ice thing, good service and a reasonable price. Four with two sodas each was £35.
