Chiquitos in Norwich is located on the Riverside, with rear windows facing the banks of the River Wensum. The atmosphere of the restaurant is undeniably warm, with dark and light wooden furnishings, hispanic music, and a colour scheme of earthen and warm colours found from the ceiling to the floor. Prices can be accommodating, as there is a lunch meal menu, and a student saving scheme, for those in higher education. However, a price hike, and redesign of menu items has been noticeable, compared from 2012 to 2013. The attempt to espouse higher dining has taken away from the familiar feeling of the place, akin to being at a friend’s place — from the white corporate menu, to the perfect geometrical plates. Meals range from spicy South American offerings, to blander USA-style creations, leaving no customer wanting for variety, and while deserts used to be more diverse, classics such as churros and brownies with ice cream never fail to please. The wine menu is typical of a chain restaurant, but the choice in cocktails is incredible. Service at this branch of Chiquitos is quite varied. Mostly the experiences have been utterly positive, with many members of staff being forthcoming with regards to saving schemes and the likes, or incredible attentiveness without being interruptive. However, on occasion, waitresses have been known to be deceptive about pricing and seem robotic when asking standard questions about the quality of the meal, and the enjoyment of the experience.

We arrived on a busy night with a time limit for eating. The manager said that there could be a 15 minute wait for food, but when we explained our problem, he said he would see what he could do & explained which items on the menu could be served instantly — and the choice was excellent! The food did arrive promptly, was delicious and filling and served attractively on the plate. We went for the ‘mixed shots’ desserts, but were told that on that busy night, 2 had run out — but they could replace with any others. We were quite happy — double the chocolate! We loved the way the staff talked to us, outlining how problems could be solved. The food was great &YES I WILL visit again!

1. Chiquito’s restaurant at Riverside is fairly new and therefore nicely modern with its clean furnishings inside. The service is friendly although a little slow the food I ordered arrived only warm not piping hot like is expected in a restaurant. Looking at the menu you would not think this place is themed on being Mexican as the menu even has burgers on it. If you are looking for Mexican food in Norwich then go to Pedro at Chapelfield, however for a different cuisine and for the price I would recommend going a few doors down to Bella Italia where I have received nothing but fantastic service and amazing food.

Chiquito is a successful Mexican themed restaurant situated near the local Odeon Cinema in Norwich. The restaurant itself is pleasantly decorated, large and spacious, with candles on all of the tables to create ambience. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful and manage to be available when you want them but not constantly hover around you while you’re trying to enjoy your meal. The menu itself is varied, focusing on Mexican food such as fajitas, quesadillas, tacos and chimichangas, but also other dishes such as enchiladas, steaks and meatballs. The portion sizes are generous and very delicious, all at a reasonable price. The music played throughout the evening is a mixture of modern tracks and traditional Spanish or Mexican songs, which can create a very thematic evening. All in all, a very pleasant evening out can be had here.

This new restaurant is spacious with a varied menu. Its very child friendly and the waiting staff are fantastic. The menu includes fajitas, ribs, chilli, burgers and a huge cocktail menu. the nachos are divine, with generous helpings of sour cream, salsa and guacamole. Its reasonably priced, as you would expect for a chain, and the portions are a good size. One of the better chain restaurants in Norwich
