Frank’s is a cozy, nooky place that has a great atmosphere. It can be very busy at times and there is often the chance that you may share a table in the main area, but there are more tables out the back with space to acommodate larger groups. We have been here often for breakfast and the staff were attentive and the food very nice. A great veggie breakfast and the black pudding is one of the best I have had. The bar in the evening is a very good alternative to the more lively raucous bars in the area. A good selection of spirits, local and guest beers on tap and reasonable prices. Open till 3am at the weekend. There is also a collection of board games to keep you entertained.

Franks is an amazing hidden gem. Great food in a relaxed atmosphere. Later on, this turns into a hip bar. Free wifi too!

Franks is the fantastic! It’s a cozy creative feeling atmosphere always busy with people eating, chatting, reading a novel, or watching a film on the upstairs screen. We came one morning from brunch and loved the eggs! They do a fine cup of coffee as well. The«American Style» Pancakes where however anything but American Style. Being an American I can say I’ve never laid eyes on a pancake like that and I’ve had my share. They tasted nice, but it was essentially a couple scones made from pancake batter. We went back again for breakfast a few weeks later and brought friends from London with us and tries more of the egg dishes, bacon, and chorizo this time which were all stellar. Franks is quickly becoming our favorite breakfast and brunch place in Norwich. This Thursday we are planning of stopping in for dinner to give it a go.

Interesting interior with seemingly always one floor more and one side room extra, but after a couple of visits you’ll figure it out. Very nice food at all times of the day and evening, but a bit on the pricey side. Great books, internet access, but don’t use it too long if it is full, or you will be asked every ten minutes what else you might want to eat, no matter what you already have consumed, so an actual internet café will be way cheaper in the end. If you sit in there with no laptop you can stay as long as you like, so do the office work at home, or, well, in the office for a change! By far the best place in Norwich for a huge brunch with friends, or on your own too, why not?! There is a movie night, but I never made it to that, so I only guess it is fab, as really: why wouldn’t it be? Another place run by a group of younger people, all friendly, all«artsy»(although that’s a silly word, really!) and no icky attitude. Cool place.

Absolutely love this place. Waiter/ess service is a good start, and a good follow up are the great arrange of wines and spirits. Free wifi, cosy and in a great location. Decent snacks also get my vote and, if it wasn’t for the farting students, this would be a five star place.

I Love Frank’s. They have created a cozy bohemian atmosphere and serve really tasty, fresh cooked food, delicious drinks– coffees, teas & extensive beer, wine & the more exotic, too. Friendly folk waiting on tables. Willing and able to accomodate my fussy eating habits. Such a nice vibe. Whether for a quick bite, an afternoon of chatting over tea, a relaxed lunch, playing their many board games into the evening with friends, a divine dinner or the very best Sunday Brunch in Norwich Frank’s is it!!! Like my very own dream sitting room!

We headed to Franks on the recommendation of the friends we were meeting and it proved to be the perfect spot to while away the hours on a Saturday morning and afternoon. From the moment you step in the door you feel relaxed. Aromas of cake and coffee embrace you and the staff were super frirendly, even if they were always busy serving customers in this popular little place. A huge range of teas and coffees, delicious cakes(the warm almond croissant was the best I’ve ever had. No joke), and the food was fantastic too. Between us we had a beef ciabatta, warm root veg salad and homemade houmous. Really very, very good. Familiar and interesting music piped out, and everyone around was chatty and in good spirits. Quirky décor with local artist works on the wall and big old wooden furniture. Just a delightful place to be to start the weekend. You’d find this kind of place in Broadway Market in London, only the Norfolk twist made it even more warm and welcoming with none of the LDN pretence. Delightful.

Frank’s, located amongst the knickknackers and indie clothes stores of the Norwich Lanes, fits right in its little niche. Its pretty but nondescript exterior gels well with both its ambiance and interior design: vintage tables and chairs, hand-worn wood, well-thumbed books and lovingly bedraggled boardgames. As such, this really is a place you’d be happy to while away a cold afternoon. The friendly staff don’t seem at all bothered if you waft in and spend an hour over a paper or book with a coffee. Scooching is actively encouraged and you can often be pleasantly surprised by the clientele you might find sat next to yourself. They also have a movie night. The food is good. It was fantastic, but seems to have slipped a little. It’s fairly expensive, but it’s all ethically sourced and interesting fare. As hangover-busters go, there are few better options in Norwich than a stack of blueberry pancakes or a good fry-up at Frank’s. Yet it really comes into its own when the sun’s set. They have a great selection of spirits and can usually recommend a hearty cocktail, as well as seasonal booze(i.e. mulled wine) and an array of beers and wines. Again, it’s not cheap, but the convivial air and superfine barmaids are definitely worth the extra cost. There’s no air of sleaze, and as everyone’s always seated, it’s not the kind of place you go to get shitfaced and hit on someone. At most, you might find yourself playing jenga with them. Personally, I consider that a plus. Add to that the fact that it’s open later than anywhere comparable in town, and — hey presto — you have a perfect destination for when you’ve just finished a night out and it’s been an unsurprising disappointment but you still have a bit of a buzz and twenty quid burning a hole in your pocket.

I love this place. Found it on a filthy wet day when I needed shelter; it’s the best umbrella I know! Excellent food & drink, totally relaxed, friendly staff; I head there whenever I’ve the chance.

Excellent place to drink and eat. A relaxed, studenty type décor(tired journalism I know but I’m walking and typing so will suffice for the time being.) Service was prompt and very happy go lucky, I like that. Drinks were reasonably priced and the food was very good vfm. I had the bream and butterbean stew which was plentiful and cooked to perfection. All in all a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere. I shall return and can heartily recommend it.

I am actually in love with Frank’s Bar whether it’s the super-friendly staff, the cosy and kooky surroundings or the awesome food. Located in a little space in Norwich’s Lanes it stands out straight away as the kind of place I like to visit. Inside it’s ramshackle junk shop tables, board games, magazines and books create a really nice atmosphere and another room out the back means that even though Frank’s is popular it’s not usually overcrowded. During the week they serve food which goes down a storm if you’re hungry whether it’s the superb patatas bravas or the tasty sausage sandwich with an onion marmalade. Saying that I have had a few meals here which haven’t been quite to my taste like the Thai curry but the menu rotates quite often so there’s always something new on offer. The best time to come in for food is on a Sunday when the mood is very relaxed and they do an excellent Full English breakfast, a vegetarian breakfast and the legendary blueberry pancakes. There are very few places in Norwich I would rather sit down and read the paper on a Sunday morning. Now I realise Im jabbering on so I’ll speed up. They’ve got a great selection of wines and other drinks. I can’t say anything about what it’s like in the evenings since Ive never been but Ive seen photos and it looks great. Sunday afternoons they show themed films in the backroom Just go there. Unless you’re scared of being seen as twee or hipster. In which case maybe not.

Absolutely wonderful place. The food is excellent and such good value for money. It is the perfect place for lunch as well as being open until three for a couple of margharitas before bedtime. The drinks list is extensive and the coffee is delicious too. It is table service so if you can’t get a table, you can’t get served. The staff are attentive and very friendly. I really can’t praise this place enough. Even the toilets are lovely and worthy of a mention. Frank’s Bar is a real gem and a credit to Norwich which has become overrun with smelly chain bars with no personality and cheap booze. If you like that kind of homogeneous thing then fine, but steer well clear of Frank’s Bar. It’s lush.

Got to spread the love for Frank’s Bar, not that it needs it given that it always seems to have people in, enjoying themselves. I love the slightly chaotic layout in the front area, with comfy seating of a myriad of different types. There’s plenty of papers to read and games/books to occupy yourself as well. The coffee is lovely, big cup, strong and nice, and the cakes are delicious fuel for surviving Norwich centre on a Saturday. I’ve not tried the seemingly legendary breakfasts on Sunday yet, but I’ll definitely pop in now One last echo of this review, Frank’s Bar is located in a pretty nice part of the centre, near the cinema and the non-chain store shopping, so it’s well worth snooping around after a coffee to see what you can find.

What a great little bar. Tucked away down Bedford Street, it’s quirky and different. Its as thought someone’s actually thought about the things that would make a really nice place to hang out, then done exactly that. Friendly staff, great drinks that flow as fast or as slow as you need them, comfy shabby chic furniture and really nice food. Much like my own front room in fact. Except bigger. And with more people to talk to. Best of all they have an old tea trolly like my Nan used to have loaded up with old boardgames. Grab a bottle of wine and settle in for a Scrabble-a-thon. Or try something more intellectual. Like Guess Who. Top marks.

This is a lovely little boutique store which I frequented regularly when I was a teen. I have moved on a bit from it now(being a working lady) but I still wander back every now and again for a quirky casual t-skirt. I always wished it were a bit bigger(especially the changing cubicles). Oh yeah, always very helpful staff :)

Frank’s Bar is situated in a fairly central quiet part of Norwich off a cobbled alley called Bedford Street. It’s only been open a few months so I have only had the pleasure of visiting it once. The décor is very simplistic yet stylish with plain walls and furniture that does not match. It’s very clean and spacious with two floors and a beer garden. Frank’s Bar is a bit different to any other pub/bar in Norwich as a table service is provided instead of ordering your drinks at the bar. Maybe the owners are going for a continental vibe? If so, I liked it as it meant I didn’t have to keep making trips to the bar all night. I didn’t try the food, but the drinks menu has a massive range of beverages all at a reasonable price. I stuck with the Guinness and the quality was very good. I often find that too many pubs serve bad Guinness! A friend told me that on Sundays they play classic films from the 80’s and recommended it as good place for a first date. Make of that what you will, but I’m in! However, if you turn up and they’re showing Cocoon 2, I doubt they’ll be second date. Although I’ve only been to Frank’s Bar once, it left a good impression on me and I would definitely go again. Highly recommended!
