The Rose

Home of the Norwich Bear brewing company. Lots of real ale on tap :). Large open plan pub modern feel. Not quite my cup of tea to get five stars but its a really good pub well worth many a visit.

Comfortable and approachable neighborhood pub, the Rose has plenty of seating and is one of two in the city that are exclusive distributors for Norwich Bear Beer. I had a pint of the «classic» which was excellent.
The pub has a weekly quiz night, which might be fun for the quiz night people. Since I was looking for a quiet pint and a talk with my friend, maybe not so much fun.
Lots of seating and radiators by the windows made it nice and toasty.
The did have a fruit machine, but no one seemed very interested.

Possibly the best Sunday lunch in Norwich — huge portions, fresh vegetables and value for money too. The beers are all expertly kept and the people are warm and friendly, as are the landlord and landlady, Dawn and Kevin. Its near to the football ground and seems to be the place to be before and after home games — good if you’re a fan, but I try to avoid it for 45 minutes before and after a game. Not because there’s ever any trouble, purely because I’m not the biggest fan of football fans! Quiz night is every other Tuesday and the prize pots do build up to a reasonable amount sometimes.
I can’t understand why they don’t feature higher in the good beer guides because there’s always a good selection of truly awesome tasting ales.
