Waffle House

Amazing food and friendly staff! Even the «small» waffles are very substantial. Big fan of all the choices… And best of all, VEGGIE FRIENDLY (and happy to make amendments if needed!)
Highly recommend going there if you’re ever in Norwich.

We have been here a few times and always had good service and really enjoy the food. There is a good selection of waffles both sweet and savoury including veggie and gluten free options.
The portions are on the large size so a small would b enough for most people and it is modestly priced. I love the selection of Norfolk cordials they have on the menu too alongside the usual soft drinks.

The Waffle House has been in Norwich for as long as I can remember, I have never had a bad meal there and the service is always great and the staff very friendly!
They serve both savoury and sweet waffles!
My personal favourites are the savoury ham, mushroom and cheese sauce waffle and the sweet banoffee waffle for dessert! They also do a starter/​side of blue cheese salad which is so tasty and they do THE best banana milkshakes too.
The restaurant is only small, so you may have to queue, and there is often a small huddle of people waiting just inside the doorway. The atmosphere is pretty average but the great food and service truly makes up for it!

We have been to Waffle House a handful of times now and have had enjoyable food each of those times. Service is helpful. Food is fresh. Lots of healthy options for entrees and lots of sinful options for dessert :) All served on waffles! What more could you ask for? Oh — you could ask for more waffle options… which they are indeed happy to provide… whole meal or gluten free… no problem! Or you could ask for an option for the non-​waffle eater in your party… again no problem, they have that covered too with a mix of basmati and wild rice on offer as well. :)
As with any restaurant that employs multiple chefs, the dishes might vary ever-​so-​slightly from night to night (for example on our most recent visit our tuna entrees had less sauce on them than usual), but even with slight variations the food is still in the very good to excellent range.
If you are in Norwich looking for an interesting casual dining experience, I would recommend giving them a try. From previous visits I can recommend the following entrees:
Asian Tuna Salad (favorite!)
Oriental Vegetable & Cashew Stir Fry
Potato, Cauliflower, Spinach, & Puy Lentil Dahl
… and I dream about the Hot Dutch Apple Waffle dessert (add a scoop of ice-​cream and some pecans and it is even more blissful)
Yum!
*Tip: The food can be quite filling so if you are planning on ordering dessert after your meal, you may want to consider either eating the smaller sized entrée or splitting your dessert with someone.
P. S. They don’t close during the «down time» between lunch and dinner like many of the other restaurants in the area which is great if you want a mid-​afternoon pick-​me-​up. On one such occasion I found that a pot of tea and the Fresh Fruit Salad Waffle (with a pecan waffle subbed for the regular one… do you see a theme here?) made the perfect aforementioned pick-​me-​up :)
P. P. S. For American readers — as you may have guessed, this restaurant is a lovely independent casual restaurant. It currently has only two locations in the UK. It has absolutely not one bit of relation to the American «Waffle House» chain.

This was my normal breakfast spot, just a short crawl away from the popping Norwich Market. I have such fond memories of grabbing a window seat and watching the morning pass with a hot cup of tea.
I was used to savory waffles in the States being a creole dish. Here they take on a more continental European flavor. Service is prompt and you can get out the door for less than ten quid! Score!

This place never ceases to amaze me. I have occasionally visited over the last 35 years or more and have never had a dissapointed visit. They must do something right.

Brilliant place to eat, have been going there since it opened way in 20C it never fails, waffles are freshly made to order and consistantly good. Both sweet and savory waffles are served, The bolognaise is my favorite. The choc and banana is lovely.

If you like waffles, then this is obviously the place for you… especially if you haven’t tried waffles for anything other than breakfast, here is your chance to branch out. I went to the Waffle House today with a group of ten (we booked ahead), and it worked out well. The staff was friendly and attentive. For under a ten-​er, I got a «small» savory waffle (the feta and mozzarella: delicious) and a «small» desert waffle, and walked away feeling full and satisfied. Also, an important note for other students: 10% student discount.
Since it’s right around the corner from the market, it’s easy walking distance from anywhere in town, but it is also right next to a car park as well.

This should be a national chain.
Something for everyone at any time of day.

The Waffle House may be quite small but it is absolutely charming. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is really cosy inside. There’s plenty of choice on waffles from sweet to savoury and it’s not particularly expensive — though students with an NUS card can get discounts. It’s not very well known and is quite away from the main market place so you’re guaranteed to get a place to sit — unlike in some of the fast food chains!

Sister restaurant to the Waffle House in St Alban’s, this place is not so beautifully decored but serves the same unbelievably tasty waffles. I had mushroom and rarebit on wholemeal waffle followed by chocolate mousse on plain waffle with ice cream. The service was fast and friendly despite the full house. Incredible food.

Can’t believe this lovely place is still here 23 years after I left as a student! Or can I? The Waffles are fab (don’t think of the usual shop-​bought things-​these are a cut above!) so why wouldn’t it be? The Waffle House is a Norwich institution and my brain has been full of Chocolate Mousse waffles since I left all those years ago.
Not a lot has changed-​staff are friendly, food is great and oh! how the years roll away!!!

The Waffle House on St Giles in Norwich never fails to deliver excellent food with a vibrant atmosphere. Whether for a spot of lunch while out shopping, or for a pre-​theatre meal, the range of sweet and savoury waffles provides something for everyone — the young, and the not so young. Be prepared to wait as it is very popular, but it is well worth being patient!

Great venue offing something new and different that sets it apart from the usual munch venues in the city.

Wonderfully waffly goodness. This place has food for everyone, sweet or savoury — it’s all good. It’s not huge though so be prepared to queue in the street as it’s very popular, especially with the locals.
The food is particularly good for vegetarians, but there are meat options too.

When I was studying in Norwich, this was my favorite place to hang out after an exhausting shopping trip to the city centre or the market place. Waffle House has been there for over 20 years so I expect it’ll continue to be there for quite some time ;-).
They serve freshly prepared waffles with sweet or savoury toppings — they are delicious! You can also get really good coffee. The atmosphere is nice and cosy, service is friendly, and the place is not too expensive.
