We came here after just having arrived from London. I ordered the shrimp curry and my colleague the Goulash. As an appetizer we ordered the Hummus. The Hummus itself was very lacking, the taste was extremely bland — I strongly suspect that it was just ground up chickpeas. As a note to the chef, the difference between chickpea paste and Hummus is that Hummus actually has a few more ingredients, namely: tahini, garlic, lemon juice and olive oil — only then does it become Hummus. The accompanying pita bread was very delicious. The curry was good but not freshly made good — it was most likely something the chef picked up at the Tesco frozen foods section. The Goulash on the other had was just plain ridiculous — it was red pasta sauce again with chunks of meat in it — but not the type you would usually find in Goulash. I really felt awful for my colleague this was the second meal in a row where he ended up with a Ketchup dish. I really have to wonder what would possess the Chef to put up dishes on the menu that he/she cannot execute. Is the standard so low in this area that they think they can get away with it? This was a really disappointing meal. The only good thing was the beer and the two Polish ladies that took care of us.

The other(less expensive) restaurant at the Sprowston Manor Marriott, it took me a couple of stays to realize where it was. It’s out back and also serves as the club for the golf course. Not the widest menu, they have a few appetizers and the usual nibbles. Salads, grill items and pizza(with your choice of up to four, count ‘em four, toppings). I had the cottage pie with a side of carrots and parsnips, which was good and clearly is cooked to order because it took a good while. I thought I had ordered the chips as a starter, but they arrived with the main. My tablemates had the lamb shank and the pan fried chicken breast and both said they were good. A few beers on tap as well as the usual assortment of bar juices and bottled bars, plus wines and spirits.
