It was funny, my wife, who raved about this place, and I were commenting how these veggie/vegan eating establishments usually put so much effort into the quality of their food as apposed to some other ‘normal’ café. However this notion was destroyed when our waiter brought out what looked like microwaved scrambled eggs! Now I don’t know for sure if they were because to be honest being so disappointed by the food I couldn’t be bothered to complain. If a food establishment can’t even cook scrambled eggs properly it doesn’t deserve any more of my time. Even if Alley Café reply and say they don’t microwave their eggs it doesn’t take away the tasteless, dry crap I was presented with. Get your act together and get the basics right.

I got brunch here on the 12th of March. My friend and I both got the full English breakfast, vegan. I don’t like toast, and asked for spinach instead. The woman working swapped ‘em out, no problem, which was much appreciated. The food was I ordered was good, but not fantastic. I’ve had the same dish from a few different restaurants, and this one didn’t really stand up to most. The desserts were really nice… The gluten free hazelnut brownie was tasty. The lemon cheesecake was enjoyable, but tasted more like a like a lemon cake than a cheesecake. I really enjoyed the beer I got… Can’t remember what it was called… Imagine it was local… Or local-ish. Bloody Mary was enjoyable too. I asked for it to be extra spicy, and she made it perfectly. Very efficient and friendly service.

I had a lovely visit to Alley Café in Nottingham. They offer a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes. I had a seitan burger which was really tasty and satisfying. For dessert I had vegan ice cream which was absolutely delicious(seriously better than regular ice cream)! They also make yummy drinks at the bar. The service was nice and very polite and they offer free internet which is always a plus. A must visit for(at least) all vegetarians and vegans in Nottingham!

Mostly vegan café bar in Nottingham City centre. Cool and funky, but small and gets busy in the evenings. Some outside seating. Great vegan pizza, burgers, sandwiches etc. Daily specials(hot dishes), salads with local allotment leaves. All desserts, smoothies, and ice cream shakes are vegan. Vegan cheesecake always available. Bar serves bottled beers, small range of spirits etc. Music is great and includes DJs and occasional live music. Local art on rotation on the walls too.

It’s a bit out of the way, gets really busy, and it’s advisable to book a table if you can and one of the best places you can find in Nottingham. Their Milkshakes are amazing.

In town centre but not that well known, a tiny but cosy and chilled out place for a guilt-free veggie burger or delicious lassi/smoothie. Always unpretentious, cool people inside :)

A hard to find lovely little vegan/vegetarian café, just off the market square. A great place for relaxing and grabbing a quick snack and a healthy fruit juice or coffee but also a nice place to go with friends for a tasty meal in the evenings and a few cocktails. The food is reasonably priced and cooked fresh for you, doesn’t get much better!

This café is a warm little space hidden away in a courtyard just off Market Square. Don’t be put off by the fact that it is 100% vegetarian, vegan and organic. It manages to provide food that is imaginative as well as delicious. Equally good for a greasy breakfast or a healthy lunch, the menu won’t scare away committed carnivores. Fresh fruit juices in the day become fresh fruit cocktails at night. The Alley Cat is a particular favourite. From Wednesday to Saturday it opens late and there are always DJs playing a wide range of music from around the world. Local art is all over the walls, demonstrating the café’s dedication to locally-sourced produce. The cozy atmosphere and the friendly staff give Alley Café its appeal, the only problem is finding a seat!

Our absolute favourite place in Nottingham for lunch! Don’t go if you’re in a rush — food is freshly prepared and cooked; no! Go when you’re in a rush — learn some patience and eat fab food all at once! It’s wholly vegetarian with lots of vegan meals too. Fresh smoothies,(the strawbeery one is divine! but only if they’re in season of course!) fair trade coffee, alcohol too. I’ve never been in the evening. Small, good music, fab food, lovely staff. What more can you want? xx

This is a great little vegetarian/vegan friendly café in Nottingham, quite well hidden but absolutely a gem that I try to make an effort to visit whenever I’m in Notts. The food here is fantastic, they do a lot of different sandwiches all freshly made exactly to your requirements. The sunblush tomatoes are phenomenal. They have a good selection of breads, and the ingredients they use are great quality, taste amazing, it’s not even very expensive really comparably to your average café. The one problem is the lack of seating, it gets very busy here and you’ll often have a bit of a wait to eat in, but this place still deserves 5 stars, the staff are diamonds and the food is gorgeous.

I adore the Alley Café. If you can find a seat(!) it’s an amazing place to spend your time. The food is absolutely delicious and there is a great choice. I’m not vegan or vegetarian but I really enjoy the food, it’s great quality. I also love the Bollywood Lassies which is basically an alcoholic smoothie. They slip down a little too well but feel like they are goo for you! The atmosphere is always electric, probably because it is so small and cosy, and the staff are lovely and always helpful, despite how busy they get! The best thing about it is that it’s so hidden away, only a few people know about it, which gives it even more charm.

I’m knocking one star off because it’s so small and popular that even in the afternoon, it’s nearly always full, and getting around without knocking into five different people’s chairs is difficult at best. But once you actually claim a seat, you’ll see what all the fuss is about. This is unpretentious veggie/vegan cooking at its finest — just thinking about the omelettes is making me salivate. Or the sandwiches. Or the all-day breakfast. Oh dear.

In the same vein as places such as the Broadway cinema and Lee Rosy’s tea shop, the Alley Café is another establishment that only a select few will ever know about. Tucked away just off the market square on one of the quietest streets you’re likely to find in Nottingham, the Alley Café is a hub for students and locals alike, all sharing the good food, good drink, ethical, and community kind of spirit that brings this place alive. Alley Café is tiny, and with only a handful of seats, you’re likely to have to wrestle your way to get seated, but the food and drink it has to offer alongside its unique charm is enough to keep you there for hours on end.

Fab little place to have a quiet coffee or grap some cheap lunch. The food is good quality and very reasonably priced. As the name suggests you have to go down a little alley to find it, nice and hidden but can be very popular at lunch times, quirky little place which is cool to hang out in
