Cheap and satisfying. Don’t take your girl here to propose but take her here. It may get you to second base.

Yes, it’s dirt cheap. But the food is pretty average. Now, i’m not usually fussy about the surroundings that I eat in, and I actually have a thing about places that care more about the décor than the food they are serving… but this place is so big, there’s more atmosphere on the moon. The place was pretty packed when we went in, and it seemed that the staff couldn’t refill empty food trays quickly enough, and the place was just too crowded for my liking. I’ve only been the once, and on my way out I noticed the May Sum buffet restaurant just down the street and wished we’d gone there instead. Having been there several times now, I must say I prefer May Sum, which just has nicer surroundings overall and slightly better quality. Eating in Big Wok felt like eating in an aircraft hangar. I may give it another chance someday, maybe when it seems less busy. After all, it is so cheap that I wouldn’t really be losing anything by giving it another go. Oh, and we were treated to at least three renditions of ‘Happy Birthday’ sung over the tannoy system by one of the staff at the bar, which was both surreal and slightly amusing at the same time.

Pile ‘em high and sell ‘em cheap! This place is what I would expect to see come out of a Communist country… the food is perfectly edible but the queues to get the food and some of the people in there can put me off(yes I am being a bit of a snob). I was«lucky» enough to be there during someone’s birthday… the crackly birthday tune boomed out of the PA system like it was a message from Big Brother… If you’re really hungry, like Chinese food, are in the area and on a budget go here!

Big wok is a new chinese buffet in Nottingham, It has great service, although expect queues to get in, it does go down pretty quick. £5.99 for as much as you like until 5pm and then it goes to 9.99 but there are a few more courses on offer. My favourite is the chocolate Fountainyum yum!

One word: CHAV. It’s a Broxtowe rite of passage to go to a fancy city restaurant, and Big Wok’s all you can eat mantra sits well with the unwashed masses. Inside, it’s a canteen with no redeeming features. On a week night, you can expect it to be reasonably filled with teenage girls dressed like teenage girls dress, teenage lads mercifully have not found out where all the girls are going yet. Some families have been helicoptered in from the Oxfam dimension in T-Shirts with slogans that let you know exactly how they feel about being raped by some rich young men from the American Gangster Rap community. Weekend evenings are your average Twycross Chimps tea partys with unruly families having their offspring chucking food and insults around the hall with absolutely no regard for being out in public and not in their living room. If you like eating with zoo animals this could be your lucky day. The food is fine. Cannot fault it. Except that the sushi is actually cooked fish, but what the hey, it’s still fish. It’s not supposed to be a haute cuisine place. The lady handing out pancakes for your Duck is a bit tight, but it’s to be expected. The staff will feel it appropriate, for reasons as yet unknown, to stick an orange sticker on your hand as you arrive. On another occasion the same Door Operative challenged me to produce my receipt, as she challenged me verbally, her eyes were in my wallet looking for my receipt which of course she therefore found before I could produce it. Getting scum checked on exit is completely unacceptable. It’s their problem that they appeal to society’s lower echelons, not mine, they should not have systems in place that criminalise me because most people can’t behave. That’s the government’s job. Rating: 2 for price. It’s cheap, but that works against it. Overall: As low as possible.

This place is like a giant school canteen! Although the food is without doubt much better and there are no classes to go back to after you’ve eaten :-) The format is relatively simple, get your table, have your sticker put on you if you are here for the all you can eat buffet and then go for it! They have two types of buffet; a day time one for less money with a slightly restricted menu and then a night time one with the full choices. From memory it is about £5 in the day and only £10 at night, excellent price for what you get. There is also the option to have fresh food cooked there for you from your choice of fresh ingredients by the chef on an opne grill; for a slightly extra cost. Yes I know this type of cooking has a name, but not entirely sure what it is — would guess at something like teriyaki but don’t hold me to it. So all in all a great Chinese buffet restaurant, dont expect any great frills just decent food and plenty of it and you will be more than happy. Plus what do you expect for a tenner?

For those times when a Burger King or MacDonalds just won’t cut it. Big Wok is one of a slew of all you can eat restaurants popping up in Nottingham over the past couple of years, and they’re doing something right. Expect to queue outside, especially on the weekend, but these pretty quick affairs and you’ll find yourself scoffing your face in no time. The food is no frills, but the choice is plentiful and the drinks are not overly dear. My favourite part however has to be the Mr Whippy ice cream machine and the chocolate fountain, although it takes a little bit of practice to not get it all over you!

Big Wok is a All-you-can-eat chinese buffet. Its quite reasonably priced, especially if you go before 5pm and have the lunchtime buffet where its £5.99 per person. If you prefer and want to eat later its £9.99 for the grand Buffet, which includes Sushi and Teppanyaki. The food is nice, but I would avoid the salad and desserts at the far end, as they can offen be quite dehydrated! They have a chocolate fountain which is worth a visit!

Big Wok does what it says on the tin. It is a large restaurant with a huge, tasty selection of dishes, which are regularly replenished. It does get busy though, and they do give you a time limit in which to eat your food, so it isn’t always a relaxing experience. If you come in the evening(it costs more), you can get sushi and they have the chocolate fountain as well. It will be impossible for you to walk home after eating here.

big wok is my favourite place to eat chinese food, and it’s all you can eat! i love the buffet style so you can have whatever combination of foods that you like, which you can’t do with set menus the staff are perfect, as soon as you finish eating they are there to clear your plate away and offer you clean knives and forks the only downside is that when it’s busy, which it usually is, you have to wait a while to get round the crowded buffet service and when seated, you can feel slightly closed in due to the amount of people and the popularity of the restaurant other than that, it is a great value for money place to eat!
