I’m sure I’ve been here years ago and liked it, but tonight was rather a disappointment. 2 of the 3 ales(and some other beers though this worries me less) were off, and this is early Saturday night; surely you could plan better than that. Worse still though, we came for food and a good third of the menu was unavailable. The food itself was good but by the time we’d eaten the last ale had also run out.

The golden fleece has had a bit of a makeover in the last couple of years, and all the better for it. A little out of the city centre, but well worth a walk up mansfield road. They offer a really nice range of home-cooked food, i can highly recommend the sunday roast, where you can get two courses for about a tenner, although be warned, it gets very busy there and they often run out of food by about 3pm, so get in there early. They host a range of music evenings and also a quiz night every wednesday, where you pay a couple of pounds to enter a team and then there is the opportunity to win a gallon of beer! It’s good fun and a nice evening out. Again, the quiz is very popular so be sure to get there before 9pm.
