It’s a Wetherspoons, so you know what the score is. A busy but soulless bar that serves food. But as busy and soulless bars that serves food go, it does have its plus points. I found all the staff here friendly and really helpful. When we first arrived one lady working the floor couldn’t be more helpful when we needed to get some tables together to cater for us all. We were here for lunch and a pint, and in The Last Post the food isn’t half bad and its good value for money. The menu was a tad confusing with three versions of the same chicken burger described in three different parts of the menu. But we got there in the end and the food came promptly enough. Then silence. Food was being eaten. I got a buttermilk chicken burger and a pint for 5.60GBP. It was grand. Chips had a nice bite to them. Everyone else liked their food too. My husband was really happy with his fish and chips. Parking can be tricky here if you don’t know the area and the one way street system in Beeston. There’s a pay and display carpark nearby, so my advice would be to navigate to that. The Last Post is just around the corner.

Fairly standard but pleasant-enough Wetherspoon pub in the city centre of Beeston. I stayed at the nearby Star Inn for a week, and since they don’t serve breakfast, The Last Post was the most practical option, especially on a Sunday morning when everything else is closed. The pub itself is JDW1−0−1, from the single-large-room layout with the familiar décor and mile-long bar to the standardized menu with the«club» days(Mexican Monday, Steak Club Tuesday, Fish Friday, Sunday Roast, etc). The actual prices vary depending on location(London JDW’s are naturally the most expensive). Here, you get the large traditional breakfast at UKP4.70(see photo). I had that on the two Sunday mornings I spent in Beeston, and was satisfied by it as usual. There’s no better breakfast bang for the buck than at JDW’s. The pub seemed well maintained, as did the beers. Whatever else you can say about the Spoon, they are on the forefront of the real ale revival, always offering more than a handful of hand-pumped ales, changed frequently(and even more, more quickly changed, during one of their frequent«beer festivals»). The Last Post is no different in that regard. The Last Post is a reliable, if unsurprising, choice for drinks and pub food. It’s open during hours when all the other places are closed.

It’s a Wetherspoons, which says it all really: a reliable second choice if there’s nowhere better(or in my case nowhere else serving food on a Sunday afternoon). The usual ‘Spoons arrangement with a single rather large room(I think it used to be part of the Post Office next door) means it lacks the warmth and cosiness of smaller pubs and it’s hard to ignore the TVs. Beer is cheap, varied and in good condition; food is cheapish and perfectly good, if uninspiring.

A favourite place of mine during a morning shopping trip to Beeston. Has a large well fitted up market café feel about it. Breakfast is always piping hot and well cooked. Service is great with hardly any waiting with the same for the food service. Good selection of hot drinks which always come with a mini shortbread biscuit — yummy! Reasonable prices, well worth a stop whilst shopping.

This is the J D Wetherspoons of Beeston — a rather large pub just off the main square. They serve the usual Wetherspoons fare, including the awesome beer and burger deal, wednesday curry nights and sunday roasts. The food is always well cooked and we’ve never experienced any delays in service. The bartenders also know their jobs well and are quick to service the sometimes large crowds. There is a separate family seating area, and a range of different tables — ones with couches, chairs, high chairs and booths to suit your tastes. The smoking ban has been tough on this place, however, because they dont have a big enough space outdoors for smokers. It’s just a four meter square space with a few aluminium chairs and no heaters. I think this makes the pub a bit less popular with smokers now.
