The Jailhouse

Been before and good food but went this week and really disappointing. Toasted sandwiches were nice but Chips tasted as if cooked in rancid oil. Salad tasted as bad as the chips. I hope that it was a one off as has been much better than that.

I really wish the jailhouse lived up to the previous reviews and our expectations.
Since moving to Nuneaton several years ago I have been to The Jailhouse 4 times. On each occasion our food was undercooked, overcooked, tasteless and badly served.
Many items on the menu seem to come from plastic pouches and have been micro-​waved — often not hot enough. Chips are frozen, peas over done to the point of being dry, sauces drying up in bowls etc.
The venue could be amazing but it hasn’t changed in 5 years. The cutlery is mismatched and the tables rocky. They do well in there mainly from passing trade due to the Rope walk shopping centre.
If only they could simplify the menu (and spell the items on the menu correctly!) to less items and make them fresh — buy some new forks and serve the food within 30 mins of ordering.
My partner and I eat out a lot and The Jailhouse is not a good eatery.

had a carvery at the jailhouse, what can I say but — wow! good size plate and whatever you wanted. lovely meal in good setting. even has a pianist playing on their baby grand piano. highly reccomended.

Our experience of the jailhouse is mixed but overall positive. The place is set in a lovely setting, and provides weary shoppers with a perfect opportunityto have a rest as it is conveniently located near the major shopping arcade. The staff are very pleasant and service is quick and efficient. We have become regular customers and invariably stop in for a coffee or hot drink. We do not stop in for food anymore. The menu is good but nothing fancy, and the food generally good. This is the part which has in our case let the jailhouse down, as we have had reason to complain about the quality of the food on two different occasions. The matter was quiclky resolved in very good terms, but has frankly put us off ever eating there again. Coffees and mince pies are great!

Jailhouse in Nuneaton is at the back of the Ropewalk at the New Look exit. It’s a really friendly place to eat and drink. The staff are lovely and the service is really very good. I would recommend it highly as there are not many places to eat in Nuneaton unless you want to go into a pub! Its obviously smoke free now, which is a bit of a shame in the summer as it has quite a nice terrace, but everyone seemed to be smoking whenever we went this summer! The lunch menu is really good, they do lovely salads and the puddings are great.

what a really nice place to go! this place though small, has tons of atmosphere and the food is amazinlgy tasty!
the staff were very nice and friendly and catererd to dietry needs
prices were good too as we had things that were on offer!
