I agree with David Turner’s comments, but believe perhaps the rating is a little harsh. The surroundings are fabulous, and the staff warm and welcoming. The food on our recent trip was lovely, and was exactly what we needed on a rare baby-​free evening.
Looking forward to another meal there soon.

A large airy and characterful pub in the heart of an attractive village, this is a welcoming place. Tables on the narrow forecourt are a good place to relax in Rutland’s sunshine, and the bar is an alternative when it’s wet and cold.
The food is excellent, the service friendly and efficient and the prices commensurate with the restaurant-​quality fare.
There are 18 rooms which are comfortable if not luxurious. A welcome contrast to nearby Corby.
