This place has become my standard corner shop for a morning or evening snack. I walk by every day and it seems to be a hub of social activity for the area. It is very small, and every space, including the window sill, is covered in merchandise. Chances are, you can do a good portion of your grocery or snack shopping here at East West. Convenient parking out front, if you’re into that sort of thing.

East-West is how a local shop should be. There’s a really unusual variety of fair-trade and organic goods, so it’s somewhere for treats rather than regular shopping, but it’s also got a good stock of essentials for last-minute purchases. The staff are really friendly and are happy to chat about what you’re buying, recommend combinations of food for meals, and support local events with flyers, the recycling of bags and seasonal evenst like Pancake Day and Halloween. There’s a chiller section with snack foods for lunch as well as basic ingredients for cooking, fresh bread and some deliciously tempting pastries and cakes. It’s more expensive than a supermarket, but stocks lots of soups, jams and sauces that you can’t buy in your average supermarket.
