George Street Cafe

Great place to study or meet up for a casual lunch with friends. A lot of natural light, plenty of seating and plugs for laptops, and good food. My only complaint is that I have been here multiple times and I still cannot figure out how to get a seat and place my order – depending on the time of day or the specific seat it appears that sometimes you order at the counter and seat yourself, other times you seat yourself and the staff will take your order, and yesterday I was told where to sit upstairs but I had to place my order downstairs. It is very confusing but I imagine it will sort itself out after the Café is open longer. After I am seated and I have placed my order it is a lovely place to spend a few hours.

I had their English breakfast, which they were kind enough to make for me after breakfast hours, though they initially told me they were no longer serving breakfast. The staff are friendly and provide extremely good service. However, the breakfast was horrible. The toast was stale, beans tasted like they came from an old can, bacon was dry, and the sausage was barely edible. The mushrooms were thin and soggy but decent. I don’t know about the other food, which may very well all be delicious, but the English breakfast is a no-​go for me. The 2 stars are for the wonderful service and friendly staff.
