Average place. The person at the counter wasn’t very polite to us when you went there. The place isn’t very clean and that’s why no one was there probably. If you are starving there is a kfc or McDonald’s around the corner.

I wish I could like this place but this meal missed the mark. Oxford suffers from few takeaway places in the city center surrounding Banbury and Gloucester Green. And no proper fish and chip shops. So this place had a tall order to fill to chip craving. Points earned for naan use instead of pita on the doner kebab. Point for chips that stayed crispy despite styrofoam packaging through the short cab ride up Banbury Road to north Oxford. No points for the foul meat in the doner — it tasted more artificial than it should. Horrid white creamy sauce applied on top. Mayo? Yuck. Definitely not tsatziki. No points for the lack of heat in the chili sauce. No points for the four pound fifty price tag for a doner and chips. In short, in this town where parents are more likely to pop in to take their children out to gastropub food or a proper restaurant, you will be hard pressed to find a good kebab or chip shop in town near Gloucester green. Btw, where was Hassan’s van? Bc it wasn’t on Broad street tonight.

Such great memories of this place! I returned recently on a jaunt back to uni but found much had changed. The prices are still great, but portions have shrunk and the quality of chips and sauce has gone down. Still a decent snack but I won’t seek it out again…

It is not a chain, it is a family owned place, but they don’t seem to care when you go in, take forever, very poor service, more interested in talking and shaking hands with their mates then they are about the food, have messed up my order everytime… very careless, food is average at best, and if anyone says different needs a taste ‘adjustment’. Awful service, average food, the only plus is convenience. They need some good honest competition to sort them out!!!

Not the best kebabs ever, but good for some late night chips and cheese when you are drunk. They stay open forever too! Never saw one that was closed.

I have to be completely honest — I last ate here in early 1999. Still, I loved Kebab Kid then and from what I’ve seen on the Internet, it is still going strong, still in the same location on Gloucester Green, and still serving awesome kebabs. I’m a Californian who was working on Oxpens Road back then for about a year and about once a week I’d wander over and have a kebab for lunch or before I caught my bus home at the Gloucester Green station. We have awesome food here in Los Angeles and kebab places aplenty, but I’ve never found anything exactly like what I savored at Kebab Kid. Strange as it sounds, eating there is one of my treasured memories of my time in the magnificent city of Oxford. When/if I ever return, I will make a beeline to Kebab Kid and hope that the kebabs are as good now as they were back then.

It takes no more than a week after my latest business trip to Oxford for the Kebab Kid Jonez to settle in. The Kebab Naan is near the top of the genre. Service is great… food is better… the place could be nicer… but then it’d be a wagon: and with food this great, who cares about the atmosphere?

Eating at Kebab Kid is one of my fondest memories from my semester in Oxford. However, most of my KK experiences were at the other branch, on Cowley Road. THAT Kebab Kid would get 5 stars from me in a heartbeat. Great service, good amount of tables, delicious food served quickly, convenient location… yeah. Cowley gets 5 stars. Gloucester Green… 3 stars. There’s about 5 seats total in this restaurant — it’s definitely more geared for takeaway. I’d recommend the takeaway option myself, as the seats and counters that are there aren’t the cleanest. The service was decent, the food delicious as always, and they have Rubicon Mango, which is like nectar from the gods. This location is convenient for those staying at Oxford’s hostels or just stepping off/on the bus or train, since it’s near both stations. If your visit to Oxford is quick, stop in and grab a kebab naan to go. If you have more time to spend… hop on the bus to Cowley Road to sit down and enjoy your meal. It’s across from Tesco and the logo looks like a cross between Elvis and Johnny Bravo– you can’t miss it.

i dont like this particular kebab store there are always drunk people in there through the day and makes uncomfortable to make a purchase. the food is average and nothing really special if im totally honest. the only good thing is the staff polite and friendly.

One of the best takeaways in Oxford, kebab kid has two branches, one in the city centre; the other in Cowley Road. As expected, all the food is incredibly greasy but very tasty and of good quality. Definitely recommended above the kebab vans that litter the city. Note that the city centre branch does not do pizza. I’d recommend their Chicken Tikka kebab with Naan as well as the Chicken Fillet burger meal.

I used to live in house which had a garden that backed onto kebab kid. Needless to say whilst living there i put on a lot of weight and my diet was not very varied! Kebab kid is without doubt ONE of the BEST kebab places on cowley rd. Which is a pretty big deal seen as though every kebab house on cowley rd is pretty good. Esp the end further away from the city centre. Kebab kid was not long ago refurbed and is therefore still fairly clean and pleasant :) the staff are really friendly and funny and dont mind if you take ages ooooing and errrring :) I have always found the food –burgers and kebabs– really really good and i have tried quite a few things. i especially like their burgers and their kofte kebab is excellent… smothered in garlic sauce… although this is less advised if you are on the pull ;) Definitely the place to visit on your way home from park end or the S. U…i would say the bridge but of course their clientèle is far to posh for a kebab … ;)

there is not a ‘bad’ kebab house is cowley per say, however there are some that do the little things right or have the right atmosphere to stand out. this seems to be where the kebab kid falls down. its a venerable instituation of oxford late night folklore, but its crown is slipping. speed services has given it an almost automated feel… no character or stand out food. dont get my wrong, the food is extremely passable, but, as always an issue with a chain… atmosphere and character can lack
