Awful service — we had to stand up to ask for the bill ourselves when the restaurant was empty. Food is mediocre. If you want Italian, go to Marios

It’s modern well known italian restaurants in Oxford for some #1 and according to foursquare it’s #3 if you want to be precise. I had massive portion of antipasta vegetariani for 12GBP for 2 then excellent rabbit came as main course. Service is friendly, helpful and does not really rush. You’ve got some tables outside as well. The italian beer morretti is served from the original bottle not from draft if you have some extreme preferences. The only thing that really surprise me it’s lack of wi-fi on site after so many years of trading in Oxford, restaurant la cucina still didn’t managed to provide one. I always do check in, take pictures and let know my friends about interesting places to be and la cucina is one of them.

We had our conference dinner here, prepaid and down the street from Oxford Brookes University. Probably hard to find parking since I think most of Oxford is permit parking. Easy to walk to though if you’re in the area. We LOVED this place! They were playing Italian music, it was lively, and fresh food! We were greeted promptly and seated. The server brought us Prosecco to start; as soon as other guests arrived, we were given a white wine and a charcuterie plate with grilled eggplant, mushrooms, green bell peppers, salami, prosciutto, and some kind of ham, with fresh mad garlic bread. For the main dish, I had the risotto(barley style), ending with the panna cotta. The risotto was creamy and just right — not too soft, al dente, and not too cheesy; the panna cotta was so fresh, cold, and made with this luscious, rich, velvety berry sauce on top. My husband had the carbonara with pieces of bacon and ended with the lemon sorbet with a shot of limoncello, all of which I tried. Amazing!!! Everything was so fresh. We had red wine to taste with all the food as well. Service was perfect — they were attentive, efficient, and kind. I am so happy my conference organizers chose this place as they did a wonderful job!

Love the kitchen, owner /chef(formerly of Cipriani, Giudecca) and food, but what is it with the front of house staff? So chilly! I’ve had to stop going, just felt uncomfortable.

Excellent pizza with fresh ingredients. The gnocchi was spot on.

very disappointing visit to one of my regular Oxford eateries. On wednesday, 22⁄06 we visited the empty resturant to be brusquely told that we couldnt have a table by the waiter near the door. We were offered no reason or explaination as to why. Very poor customer service as it will make me reluctant to go back again. A smile and reason would not have cost them anything even if they couldnt feed us.

Have been to La Cucina twice in the last 2 months. Really nice atmosphere. Menu is varied. Pizzas are what I had on both occasions and they were probably some of the best I had. Staff are helpful but not overwhelming. Just a great place to eat. Bonus is St Clements car park right at the back — handy !

A wonderful place to eat with a friendly atmosphere, helpful staff and superb food, which is reasonably priced too. You can see the open kitchen from most of the tables, which really makes you feel at home there. The homemade tiramisu is one of the best things on the menu — the last time I had tiramisu that good, I was in Italy!
