Went to the wall today it has had a complete revamp and an extension. It is now a fantastic facility the extra space has made climbing on those busy nights more pleasurable. The new bouldering is now top class no more waiting to do the grey wall(although I now miss it) there is now great climbing everywhere. It now cost £7 to get in which is a bit steep but there is a 12 entry pass which is good value. also great job on the paint job it now looks cool.

A great climbing wall. I never go here as much as i should do. I think it’s because it’s always quite busy. If you are a member of the brookes gym, you get a discount. Otherwise it costs about £5 to climb(no time limit). A great place to meet climbers and also, a bunch of trips are planned by the people on this wall to Wales, Scotland, Pennines etc. So if you are looking to go on a climbing trip, it’s worth rocking down here and meeting some people.

If you’re into rock climbing, Oxford Brookes sport centre provides a reasonable wall. If you’ve never tried it, they offer adult and children’s lessons and individual tuition, as well as children’s parties. It costs about £5.50 for a climb at peak time(evenings and weekends), which is unlimited time, although when it’s busy you have to wait as it’s a one in one out basis. There are 4 lead walls with several routes on each and some good overhanging sections; you’ll need your own rope, but extenders are in place. There’s also a bouldering area with squishy floor and a featured wall, as well as a great archway — look up before you walk through in case someone’s about to land on your head! I think they loan out basic equipment and there’s a shop selling chalk and occasionally shoes and harnesses, although opening hours are limited. It’s the best wall in the area and its popularity reflects that. If you’re already a climber, come and meet other people with your interests; if you fancy trying it, sign up for some lessons.
